Tracy McGrady was one of the most athletically gifted basketball players of the last 30 years.
6'8 and could do it all. Such fluid movement.

He was more skilled than athletic honestly. His skill level was sublime. Jumper wet as water.

His skill level is what always stood out to me more than his athleticism.

The skill level with the ability to score pass and defend at an elite level when he wanted to. In a fair world T-mac and Yao would have got at least a half decade together with both of them healthy to see how good they really could have been. But it was either Yao wasn't quite ready or either one of them being hurt off and on by time he was ready.

T Mac was EXTREMELY athletic but his fluidity and coordination and smoothness made him seem even more athletic than he actually was. Paul George has this same effect.

True. But its an insult to mention Paul George in the same breathe as T-Mac. They ain't in the same galaxy as ball players.

With that said, when I think of T-Mac, the first image that comes to mind is his pullup jumper. I don't think of some explosive move to the basket. In fact, I would argue that when both he and Kobe were in their prime (2003), it was Kobe not T-Mac that was the more explosive dynamic athlete in games. While T-Mac was the better shooter. Just think back to the epic game in Orlando when both scored 38. T-Mac highlight in the game was a spinning turnaround jumper where he dropped Kobe while Kobe's highlight was the explosive drive to the basket and two hand dunk where he slapped the backboard.

Prime T-Mac was a skillfull silky smooth shooter like Kevin Durant more than some hyper athlete living off his god-given ability.

Real hoopers appreciate him. Its the nerds that have invaded basketball that don't give him his props.

I got him in my top 10 all-time cause he was nice.
Indeed. I rate players on their games, not the whole ring thing because it’s a TEAM thing. Like Bean said, “He could do everything I could do, but he was taller”. So what does that say?

Usually people talk about his scoring. But his passing and ability to limit turning the ball over even though he had the ball so much was real impressive to me. His handle looked effortless for someone his height.

It’s a shame he had to deal with so many injuries. I think he was born with scoliosis. So him even achieving what he did is amazing to me.

T-Mac had more natural athleticism than Kobe. He just didn't utlilize it as effective as Kobe in games. I stand by my assesment that in 2003 when both were at their peaks, Kobe was the more explosive. His highlights that year included more WOW plays than T-Mac who was the better shooter.

T-Mac had more natural athleticism than D-Wade as well. But Wade like Kobe utlilized his athleticism better in games hence the reason he has more explosive plays on film.

I dont think McGrady was more skilled or more athletic than Kobe at all.

I think I agree with Kobe's perception that they were more or less equals.
