Thank you!!!!

You know, you’ve heard it

He had a rough time in the 90’s

Especially when he tried to appeal to the hip hop audience
Yea albums like come and emnancipation don’t come close to anything from the purple era even though he has some cuts that were good. To me sign of the times was the last great album Prince made. Everything else was loosies after that.

I've never listened to a Prince album

The early 90's was especially embarrassing.

You doing yourself I disservice not listening to his 78 - 87 run. In terms of sound he was so ahead of the time of what was being produced by other musicians at that time.

Especially once you get to 1999 that’s when he was tapped into the purple frequency.

exactly

plus, Prince was pulling from the vaulet for songs from his classic period and reworking them

don't get me wrong, he would have some cool moments here and there, but the magic in real time in the 90'[s and by 88' was gone.

Yea which is about the time when that Warner bros deal was fukking with him. Which I felt killed the magic and he started changing his name.

Yup

Plus times change and so does an artist with where they’re at in their life at that given time

And where they’re at doesn’t always continue to connect with their general audience the way in which it use too, outside of the stans

People who say Prince never fell off are the ones who really never listened to his music.
After '88, it was hit and miss.
The early 90's was especially embarrassing.

He had some duds. I think the 90s for him was maturing.
Jill Jones didn't want to finish her second album with him because he was still doing the same old thing.
Lovesexy a good show of where he was going. I think Jill leaving after Graffiti Bridge was a reality check he needed to grow up so to speak.
He went from this in '89

To this in '91, but it was recorded in '90.

He had to do some catching up and growing up.
Experimenting with hip-hop when it was hitting its stride put masculinity in his work that wasn't always there in the 80s.
No coincidence his band in the 90s got blacker.

I don't agree that he fell off after Sign O The Times. You could say that was his last truly classic or perfect album but the following years were really good. Batman soundtrack, Graffiti Bridge, and Diamonds & Pearls all came out within a couple years. The Love Symbol album is good. Come is good (pause). The Black Album, which was technically the true followup to Sign O The Times, is really good. Things get really hit and miss after that until Musicology and 3121.

You're still left with arguably the best discography of any artist, outside of jazz. How many artists have ten great albums?

Prince was about doing his thing no
matter the shift in Music.
Prince was Music Trapped in a Being.
People will be talking about Prince
50 years after todays most popular artists are resting
in the darkest reaches of Oblivion.

THE MOST OUTTER REACHES OF THE COSMOS
Honestly From For You to Sign of The times I think he released his best shyt one of the goat 9 album stretches. Then he had sprinkles here and there. But to me wasn’t the same.
I totally agree that For You to Sign of the times was his best work! Those albums and B side records that weren’t part of those albums during that time are timeless. I don’t think he ever fell off. He was just such a creative and musical genius who constantly put out music and if your doing that not everybody is gonna vibe to or accept your music because of different reasons. For me it was the sound and the band that he was working with! I grew up on Andre Cymone and the Crew/The Revolution so I’ll admit I fell back from his music during the NPG run! He did have some definite hits though, but I come from the debut of Soft and Wet and 80’s Era and it doesn’t get any better than that time, period! Prince was a Mega Star up until his passing. He is heart brokenly missed, but I stay listening to the classic stuff as if it came out yesterday. Before he passed he and the Revolution were getting ready to reunite! That was always the plan. Can you imagine if that would’ve happened? Tours, shows, and interviews! It would’ve been 1984 all over again!:blessed:……..Prince is my favorite artist and The Greatest Musical Artist For All Time!

Lakers
Batman but especially Diamonds & Pearls. I liked Come though and The Gold Experience was kinda a return to form.

The Black Album was weak to me to but he showed with Lovesexy he still had it

Bruh I was listening to the originals album with the cuts he originally sang on for Andre cymone, Time, Shiela E and Vanity and they were still fire nikka was a genius. He the closest thing to Mozart in my lifetime.

Like I could see why Dr Dre didn’t want to work with Prince. Prince would have told the nikka he ain’t shyt and would have had 5 songs done written and composed by the time Dre would have finished one.

Man Prince is talented asf but everything after the album that Little Red Corvette on it don't hit the same.

He purposely said fukk the mainstream im doing me and he went too far left at times.

Edit:I meant Sign of the times album and Raspberry Berret
