Really? i would think with a coed prison everyone would be on some chill shyt, and if you did something you go to solitary for a few months and don't get to interact with anyone.

With coed you would think there's enough women/men for everyone that people would just get along

Lol naw man,now if they even it out like 500 women inmates and 500 male inmates then maybe,but women bring competition amongst guys, and it's already hostile in there, it'd make it even more hostile, guys taking other guys girls,girls fighting over guys lol it'd be a war zone man

Free time depends on your security level, if you at a level 1 or 2 joint you got basically all day to do what you want.

Level 4 and 5 time is not on your side.

It just depends.

23 hours a day cells is solitary confinement, you chained up everytime you go somewhere, eat in your cell and only come out for 15 minute showers and 1 hour of yard in a small cage.

No difference between private and public prisons,at least not to my knowledge, every joint I went to was basically the same

In county jail, there are some lax security procedures in the county jail I worked in.
The main way contraband (stuff that is not allowed in jail, illegal stuff like drugs and not necessarily illegal stuff like cell phones and lighters) gets into the jail is persons coming into the jail with the contraband, or dirty deputies sneaking it in. The visitation rooms when visitors come in is not how contraband makes it in. There are solid walls and windows between the inmates and the visitors.
One problem was something called work release. They let inmates out of the jail in the morning, go to a 9-to-5 job, and then come back in to the jail in the afternoon where they would sleep. Dudes were supposed to be thoroughly searched upon coming back in, but they weren't You can imagine the main places to tape something is right at the crotch. Or put it into your booty hole and poop it out once you are inside. Deputies who were thorough could find things. That would be the end of the work release program for that dude.
No dogs. Drug sniffing dogs are an expensive resource and most jails don't have them.
In the next jurisdiction over, there was a city jail, and they had tons of problems with contraband getting inside. There was usually someone on the outside who would get contraband to the deputy and that deputy would then bring it on the inside. The deputy would get money in return from the outsider. They caught some of these deputies too.

Exactly......hell, look at all the drama that pops off on the outside with people fighting over men/women, that shyt would be 1000 times worse behind those walls, especially due to competitiveness/jealousy

You can learn trades in the joint, barber is one of em. I have a cousin who learned how to cut hair in prison.
