Basically, from my perspective (I really should've clarified clearer and picked my words carefully from the jump my apologies) people I've met who were at one point deep in the NOI are now Hoteps , only difference being is the lack of unity within "Hotepism" and them not being restricted to one doctrine or figurehead nor governing body and put more emphasis on group economics, social policing and focus on history.

Hoteps usually are people who left one org or another, that is a true statement. But they usually were never deep enough in those legs to even understand the ideals so they just regurgitate a bunch of random info to people who are ignorant to knowledge and come off looking deep.
One could say nuwabians were a hotep group since their idealologies changed ever 20 yrs, but NOI,Moors, etc agree with them or not at least stand concrete on a specific belief/ideal.
The avg hotep of today is just someone who watches a ton of YouTube lectures and read some Wikipedia pages and now considers themself a scholar. Self taught in today's world is different than self taught of the past. Self taught in the past people actually read books with valid peer reviewed info, and visited the places they were researching. Self taught today is just watching some YouTube videos, reading some blogs, and reading Wikipedia. None of this is peer reviewed or fact checked so you have people running around preaching lies or at least half truths.
The NOI has always had a research group so when they release books like the Secret relationship between Blacks and Jews they are using peer reviewed data that to this day have never been debunked, while cats like Malachi z York or your hoteps of today just freestyle stuff they glanced over that sounds good.
