The problem with free education is that you can't have public universities do it for the same reason subsidized funding is fuking over the system right now, private institutions will milk the shyt out of the system to the detriment of it all. If we wanted to get serious about public free public education we'd have to have state run and paid for systems, like community colleges, but with an increase in funding to bring the colleges up to par.

Private colleges are there to make money, in many cases they provide the same education you'd get at a state school, but for double the price.

Let's not act like public education can't be done, when really we choose not to do it.

The loan subsidies that guarantee lenders their dues. Prices have shot up because schools know they can charge whatever amount, knowing the kids going can get loans for whatever amount because the loan industry is guaranteed its money. IT's the same danger we now face with the healthcare industry. There are no incentives to keep costs down because they aren't paying for the costs themselves they pass those charges, and more importantly the MARKUP, on those charges to the end users.
