Didn't even realize this fight happened over the weekend. Nobody who's a casual even knows who Opetaia is still. I looked on YouTube and barely saw footage of the fight. Who advised him to go to Zuffa? He's still obscure and now he has no belt.

All I care about is Jai Opetaia. If Zuffa Boxing is the place he finally gets his recognition to the Boxing audience that he is in fact a Top 5 PFP fighter in the world, then so be it. I don't care about promotional/sanctioning body BS. I want to see the best fight the best, and the best to show everyone that they are the best. THEE end lol

Hoping he can get that Benavidez/Zurdo winner and show everyone why everyone at Cruiserweight has been ducking him

Okolie suddenly gained 40 pounds and ran to Heavyweight
Riakpore suddenly gained 40 pounds and ran to Heavyweight
Chris Billiam Smith was in negotiations, Jai literally offered his entire purse to him, then suddenly backed out
Badou Jack said he wanted to fight Jai then suddenly backed out

Watch and see this amazing fighter show how great he is!!!!
unfortunately he will need to beat a CW champion of some sort to get some p4p recognition....zurdo fight is his honeypot right now..the glanton fight was a hard bruising fight but it wasn't enough

He’s had terrible signings his whole career. He signed with Lonergan, which began, and ended terribly.

It’s going to be a rude wake up when he realises it’s not the sanctioning bodies at fault, it’s the promotional body.

Dumbasses fail to conceptualise that Zuffa is a belt via Dana White, not a separate sanctioning body, which to say is a conflict of interest is an understatement.

He has nothing but a bogus belt and a shady contract, by the shadiest promoter since Don King.

So when are you recanting this?

Ehh.... There's really nothing to recant if you believe the IBF's version of what happened.

According to them, they were told by Opetaia's team that the Zuffa "title" was a trophy and not necessarily a competitive championship. When they were told that, they took the fee and proceeded with business as usual.

It wasn't until later that this was indeed a real title fight for the Zuffa championship, which is believable from this point of view:

When the fight was over and Max did the in-ring interview with him, he kept calling him undisputed. It's almost like they were doing exactly what White has been wanting to do and that's make the other orgs an afterthought.

So the IBF told him no and gave him back his money. I think they just sent the letter to strip him yesterday evening or this morning.

But ultimately, somebody is lying. It's either White, the IBF, or Opetaia's team. I don't think it's Opetaia himself. I actually feel bad for him. He seems like a good guy that just wanted to compete at the highest level but boxing politics, along with his home-country fanbase have kinda messed him over.

IBF is pretty well
Known to be the least fugazi governing body.

Jai team are just retards…

They're the only ones that seem to run as if they have an SOP book with rules and regulations laying around somewhere.

Some of their rules are kinda stupid but at least they have them and TRY to abide by them, unlike a certain Green Belt that just let's muthafukkas do whatever they want. :comeon:

Opetaia is good people, but why are you acting like phone calls, emails and crossing t's and dotting i 's isn't unequivocally the most important aspect when it comes to contracts, negotiations and business relationships?:francis:

Who in their fukking right mind wouldn't be weary of the most unscrupulous promoter on the planet?

You make your bed, you lay in it.

Denigrate the IBF all you want, but if you're attempting to argue they're in the wrong here then you're either short sighted or not objective in any sense.

Once again, you can argue it to the moon, sure, these sanctioning bodies aren't perfect in any SENSE. But they are not THE PROMOTER! DANA WHITE IS A PROMOTER, ZUFFA BELT IS HIS PROMOTIONAL COMPANY.

This new power structure is exactly what the ALI act is in place to protect? When the actual promoter gives out the belts entirely, there's no power for the fighters and managers? Having a range of sanctioning bodies gives the boxers the power to move around, they choose their destiny, not the promoter. Retards everywhere can't comprehend this, it's so fukking simple?

Why are people so reluctant to admit this is the worst thing that has happened to boxing since the 1920's?
