Progressives would have way more power if they stuck with economics.

There needs to be a balance. If we abandon identity politics wholesale we are shortchanging ourselves. There are certain issues that are particular to who we are(I speak as a Mexican American but this still remains true for African Americans) that are not easily understood by white america, and consequently are swept under the rug in the name of economic expedience.

The whole latinx shyt, or defund the police, etc? That’s fringe bullshyt that we spare precious energy on, but in terms of police brutality, social and economic inequality, those are serious issues that disproportionately affect minorities. These are issues white america tell us to forego for the sake of class reductionism.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
This isn't true at all :mjlol: economic programs are usually just seen as handouts to lazy black and brown people

The rich have been getting handouts for the past decade. This is something progressives should be dominating message wise. If you break down how wealth his been distributed over the past 20 years. It’s almost as if they have to literally take people to school.

They should have led with "Reform the police". you can convince a lot of people with that alone.
It was always the wrong slogan. They could have billed it as more effective policing and won over the pearl clutching whites. Instead it's a pejorative phrase to get them even more fearful. MFs lost the plot before the even had it.

they just get way too class-reductionist for me though. To the point of flat out racism in the leftist spheres.

When you read about black leftists you really learn how fed up they were with white leftists who didn't understand that identity politics weren't the problem, it was white voters.

See, black people are already on board with these programs and policies. Its white voters who don't follow through.

That doesn't change the fact that white voters see progressive economic policies as handouts to black people :manny: word to Reagan

I remember when the progressives were focused on raising minimum wage, free Healthcare, and free school. They use to shyt on liberals for constantly playing identity politics.

Now progressives are the ones constantly playing identity politics.

If broke ass white people are getting good pay and benefits from progressive programs they wont care.

Just like they all quietly stfu about Obama care once they realized their dusty kids could get covered for cheap.
