I would think the middle passage was probably a bigger factor since so many people died coming over here. So there was probably some selection for only the most fit people to make it. But more than anything related to genetics, you can't discount social conditioning and culture. As black people we are conditioned to look to sports as a way to "make it". Education really isn't seen as an option. I think that contributes more to why there are so many black folks in the NBA and NFL more than just the physical labor of slavery.

I mean for every LeBron James that is a physical freak, there's a Kevin Durant (who other being tall and long) is great because his skill level is so high. Similarly for every Russell Westbrook who is a physical freak, there's a Kyrie Irving or Steph Curry that is great because of their elite skill level.

I think the idea black people dominate the NBA (for example) because they are better athletically is over stated. Some of the best basketball players like Kyrie Irving, Steph Curry, and James Harden are great not because they are extraordinarily athletic but because they have honed a skill level that is elite.

Yeah I agree. Especially with sports being seen as one of the only ways to "make it". I know blacks ain't the most athletic across the board. For every athletic d1 bound black athlete in America there's like 10 obese ones that may not even be able to walk a mile.

There is no difference in intelligence between the races, you are the only one bringing that racist bullshyt into this conversation. I have repeatedly stated that there is no difference in intelligence between the races that can be scientifically proven.

What can be proven is when it comes to sports that require explosiveness and fast twich muscles, black people and specifically people of west African descent dominate these areas no matter what country they live in. Both you and david want to simply attribute this to "well thats what they focus on" Which is bullshyt because the best of the best compete at the Olympics. And countries invest massively in programs to train their best athletes but they are no match for people of west African descent in sports and events that involve explosive movement, this is a proven fact from every Olympic event since they started letting black people participate.

Anyway im done with both yall bullshyt.

simple question: Are there more people of "west African descent" in Jamaica or Brazil?

I know earlier you tried to skirt around the Nigeria example by claiming it was based on corruption or poverty. Well Brazil has something like 50x the number of people of "west African descent" than Jamaica. The country is also richer than Jamaica and has better athletic infrastructure. So why aren't we seeing Brazilians of west African ancestry just dominating the sprints like that small tiny island of Jamaica with 2.8 million people?

Look you've already proven you aren't very smart with how you keep trying to over-simply everything. How about you get a little more precise with your language so that you can't look so dumb anymore.

Culture.

People in Brasil care about football, not track, but Jamaica does. :heh:

Ryan Swope just did. :gucci:

Don Beebe ran a 4.21 forty in 1989, matching Deion. Hand-timed for both though.

Looked it up and Matt Jones, Kevin Curtis, and Jeremy Bloom were right there too.

Matt Jones was a QB at 6'6", 242lbs, 4.37 forty, 40-inch vertical and a 10'10" broad jump, and did NOTHING on the NFL.

Matt Jones was the White Bo Jackson. He showed ass at the combine. Too bad he loved that

Exactly. Culture is the biggest component for why certain countries stay being better than others in certain sports.

That'll all I was trying to get from that idiot. In Brazil its all soccer so every kid is honing their skills to try and be the next Neymar. Nobody cares to be the next Usain Bolt. The opposite is true in Jamaica. And that's how we get this constantly reinforcing loop.

In America, you got white kids now being conditioned to not look at sports like basketball because its perceived as a "black sport" so they focus on baseball. We see this self-selections even within sports. White kids are pushed to playing QB while black kids get pushed to playing RB. And so on.

i think it is due to the environment that populations were shaped in
coming from places where you had sunshine and food year round
vs. populations who wondered out of africa starving and inhabiting places where they weren't getting that light

I agree with everything you wrote except the QB part. I just read that not only is this the time of the black dual threat QB, but slowly but surely they are calling it the evolution of american football.

I only know this cause I literally just read this yesterday :heh:

100 metres - Wikipedia

Only male sprinters have beaten the 100 m 10-second barrier, nearly all of them being of West African descent. Namibian (formerly South-West Africa) Frankie Fredericks became the first man of non-West African heritage to achieve the feat in 1991 and in 2003 Australia's Patrick Johnson (an Indigenous Australian with Irish heritage) became the first sub-10-second runner without an African background.[11][12][13][14]

In 2010, French sprinter Christophe Lemaitre became the first Caucasian to break the 10-second barrier. In the Prefontaine Classic 2015 Diamond League meet at Eugene, Su Bingtian ran a time of 9.99 seconds, becoming the first Asian athlete to officially break the 10-second barrier. In the 2015 Birmingham Grand Prix Diamond League meet, British athlete Adam Gemili, who is of mixed Iranian and Moroccan descent, ran a time of 9.97 seconds on home soil, becoming the first athlete with either North African or Middle Eastern heritage to break the ten-second barrier.

Jones was a playmaker at TE/WR, he was just fukking with drugs heavy and bombed out of the league.
