I personally am looking more toward the Solar car port route. No rooftop integrity issues, and depending on the state, fewer permits since its an external structure. You can even DIY.

in GA, you can't be 100% completely off the grid with your solar panels as they want the power company for "backup". Out in the woods you can do something I guess.

Above the fray.
Was gonna ask OP, what he ended up doing, but he's been ghost for 2 years.

Currently, states are starting to pass laws to allow sort of a hybrid/compromise solar set up.
Where its a portable system , plug in solar. That you set up on patio, etc

Don't do it!!!!

Firstly that shyt ugly af on your roof.

It can make selling your home difficult in the future. It can place a lien on your home. Your warranty won't cover any damage done to your roof during installation or after.

Go read the complaints from consumers who have that shyt. For every one person who likes it, you'll find 10 that are mad af.

That's how it is in Florida too.

And if im not mistaken, its often advertised that you'd be able to sell surplus energy to the power company but no one has ever enjoyed that benefit.

I just got into a contract with one

But I did investigate the company.. A+ reviews across the board and people on my neighborhood already have had them installed.

Basically what has convinced me is that the cost of electricity is going to go up everywhere now (especially with data centers like the one down the street from my spot now).

They’re basically saying my bill for the next 30 years is going to hover around $108.00.. never above that. $160.00 if I include a battery (which I can add on later).

I actually started going forward with it. My electricity bill for the past month was just below $200 and it’s just me living there alone. My roof is also less than a year old so I’ve been trying to find people to bounce the idea off of but no one I know has ever dealt with Solar.

The panels are the newer kind, virtually indestructible, and easier to maintenance. Been looking for a reason not to install it.

What’s the name of the company?

exactly.

My father and stepmom paid almost 30 racks for their shyt. They are in their late 60s. looking at minimum 10 years to recoup that. And I think they financed their shyt. Need to see if he's seen good savings at least with it.

You don't technically sell the surplus energy anymore. In the past with net metering, you meter used to spin backwards making the utility company having to pay you... now with the energy you give back, they give you a dollar credit to use and I believe there is a monthly cap
