I've been saying since #metoo started that black men were going to take the fall. Whenever America is in hysteria concerning some perceived criminal movement, black people are always the ones who suffer.
What happens is since they're elected officials, law enforcement agencies and politicians focus on what they think people care about so they start to prosecute those highlighted cases more aggressively and pass harsher laws to punish alleged offenders.
The war on drugs is a prime example and you're going to see the same thing with #metoo. And just like the war on drugs, black people are going to be the ones that are disproportionately impacted in a negative way.
I don't have any data to prove this, but I bet you, thanks to the public focus, there's been a spike in rape and sexual assault charges from State attorney offices all across the country. Remember, prosecutors choose what cases to pursue. And in the past, they may have dismissed some cases due to lack of evidence.
Now, they're going to go after every alleged incident that's reported. And I'd bet money that a disproportionate amount of the individuals being accused and going to jail are black men.
And as the Central Park 5, Emmit Till, and a long list of men later exonerated via DNA evidence demonstrate, not all accusations are true.
