truthfully, i understand what you are saying. the idea of an all in one entertainment system is honestly a good idea. im sure that the convenience of having your movies, music, games and internet all in one easy to navigate system would be great. i like the idea behind it. but, no matter how many times they call it an "entertainment system" its still a gaming system at the end of the day. otherwise they could have released the entertainment section separate at a far lower cost, especially since you can run your ps4/wii-u through the Xbox One.
and my main thing is this: as a gamer, MS just dont have the first party titles/devs for me to accept a less powerful gaming system from them.if i were to purchase a gaming system from MS i would need either for them to have a strong first party catalouge (which they dont) or for them to be able to compete with Sony for multiplats.
in this generation it was pretty much neck and neck, occassionally 360 had the better version of a multiplatform title, occassionally sony had an exclusive title that appeals to me. with this next generation it is pretty much solidified that ps4 will have the best console versions of multiplats. so where does that leave gaming on Xbox One. they wont have the best multiplatform titles and they dont have strong first party games/devs. Titanfall looks good, but the devs have already said the next one will be on both systems.
with nintendo, i can accept that their system is less powerful because they still have those first party titles i want. with the ps4, i know they will have the best multiplats as well as a ton of exclusive titles from devs who i enjoy (not knack, that game looks like ass, and i actually love platformers). but the Xbox One doesn't have what i needed them to have for me to spend that much money on an entertainment unit. i already have a pretty good set up, but i would trade that in for an easy to use system if i knew it could compete as far as gaming. i just dont see the appeal from a gamers stand point. i understand some people may think this system will appeal to casuals, but the price point seems too high to me for casuals.
and i know pc has higher specs, truthfully, i have been slowly making the move to pc and might just go pc and wii-u this gen, but the ps4 still has appeal to me as i like the ease of console gaming. and on the console gaming front, the highest powered console is $100 cheaper than its nearest competitor.
You know what? I can respect your opinion because it was a well thought out and did does not reek of fanboyism. If all you want to do is game and the MS exclusives Halo, KI, Titan fall etc dont appeal to you and the entertainment integration is not appealing to you, I think you should get the PS4. But I will say this, 1. Don't count out MS, every gen creates new ip such as titan fall. Next E3 shall be very entertaining. As for graphics the are both comparable no matter what anyone says. Most cant tell if its 720, 900, or 1080p these are fanboy arguing points. Most cant tell a ps4 from a X1 game until someone tells them.
