How much is the rift going to cost??
the development kit is $350, so I can't see the consumer model costing more than that. I'm gonna guess $250-$300

But you gotta have a computer too, with a relatively good (probably gtx 970 or above) gpu. I'm set, but I know most people on here are console gamers, so they gotta figure that into the cost of the Rift

Nah breh you gonna be buying FOUR. The Starvr is the resolution of triscreen with no visible pixels :ooh:

StarVR
1440p in each eye. Goddamn! :wow:

That's gonna cost a ton and need a hefty rig (thank god for my 2 Titan Xs)

Edit: when's that coming out? I want one ASAP!

Edit 2: just subscribed to the newsletter. I'm getting this one the day it comes out as long as it supports the same games as the steamVR.

*puts $1500 away for this one*

The entry price for VR is not there yet for the average consumer.
$350-400 for VR? That seems entirely reasonable to me. You're getting two hd screens and sophisticated tech. I think it's a steal to be honest.

One damn 1440p monitor costs more than that.

I understand it's relatively cheap for the tech, but not for the average consumer. Especially if it doesn't support current games and only specialized ones.

I think we'll see a revolution in gaming next year. I think everybody is gonna want one. I'm betting the oculus rift wins out in the long run though. If it's $250 I think it'll fly off the shelves.

Nah. You just said people need a pretty good rig to run them.

And the games will be limited as hell. Enthusiasts will buy it, but it doesn't stand a chance in hell in the mainstream market.

Now if this was running the new COD, GTA, 2k etc, then it might be a big deal.

Yeah, that's true. All first person games can be made to work with VR I think. Oculus even showed a third person platformer that worked with VR. I think a lot of games will be compatible.
