Lupe forgot how to make good music. He somehow let his skillset become a negative attribute of his artistry. First 2 albums was a great balance. He's had moments since, but never fully returned to that form.

I have, the music is average. I don't care about how impressive the concepts are. I have no motivation to listen repeatedly. Nothing captivating about it. The music left no impact either. For somebody of Lupe's ilk, that's disappointing. But I know the diehards are happy so:yeshrug:

I didn't say he never used metaphors or entendres before.

But previously his songs had more room to breathe and it didn't seem every single song was overstacked with complex word play. He used to be looser as a rapper, more playful. Now it's a chore to listen to his shyt front to back. It's whole albums of Dumb It Downs.
He was doing that "complex wordplay" stuff in his first two albums. theres really not that much of a difference besides the fact he had a machine/label behind him promoting him and telling you nikkas to fukk with him.

"more playful": His last two projects(Drogas and House EP) were playful and not a chore to listen to.You and others are late as hell and have a screwed up view on the guy's music. That you guys dont know what your talking about
plus he has music where hes more straightforward(for his standards, but its still not complex like yall keep saying he gets)) as i said prior hes not a 1 trick pony.

I'm a fan of both and K.Dot ain't seeing Lupe's pen game.

:yeshrug:

Not sure if I can pick, both are talented in their own unique way. I think Kendrick should make Music with Dre it would really make his music stand out more. Even Lupe, he should get a certain producer and create a full project.

Lupe is a better MC off the fact that his lyrics are dope and you can remember them. Kendrick verses on his later albums have become a word collage.

When people listen, loud and praise the best albu
LOL hell nah

this song itself is not that good, It has a message a high schooler would come up with to seem "Deep" or have "depth". Its crazy it gets a pass but at the same time its not given who made it. lol

this isnt true, Lupe isnt canibus where all he is, is a lyricist. Dude realeased two great albums in the past 5 years in Tetsuo and Drogas.

Yes i know what he said. But Lu says alot of shyt of how someone is better than him in such and such.

only thing kendrick objectively has over him without debate is the mainstream appeal of his music which he def has over Lu. but they have different styles and content so its a given thats how it is.

This idea that Lupe is Canibus and some sort of rapper who’s songs translate better to text is a complete mischaracterization.

Yes he’s more lyrically dense (than most), No his music isn’t as palatable as Kendrcks but Tetsuo & Youth is far beyond whatever people are trying to imply by making that comparison.

Kendrick vs. Lupe is akin to CB4 to Fear of a black hat.

Both classic, similar theme, CB4 had more star power and commercial success. FOBH has wayyyyy more depth/nuance and not just for the sake of being the “smarter” movie on paper.

At the end of the day I'd much rather listen to Kendrick than Lupe. Which aligns with what he's saying as far as Kendrick making better music.

Lupe is to lyrics what Em is to flow/patterns. Yeah their skill set is amazing but neither makes music I particularly want to hear. :yeshrug:
