Writing album long concepts, well written song concepts and employing dope grooves & rhythms
while being musically and lyrically above par and STILL funky/tight and unabashedly Hip-Hop is
when an artist truly reaches that realm of impressive.

I think and I've said it before but a dude like Skyzoo for example really doesn't get his due for being so musically consistent.
Sonically. He's fukking with guys with ten times the budget.
Lyrically. His pen is undoubtedly sharp.
Conceptually. This dude isn't just rapping and stringing together a bunch of bullshyt or to bring
it back to your post noodling incessantly at warp speed on an electronic guitar and ultimately
musically saying jack shyt. He's actually using his skill to say something, not "rapping about
rapping".

People on this website often don't judge writers in Hip-Hop as a whole they just talk about
"Them bars bro!","What about that simile man ?","Yeah but...he rhymed door hinge with orange!".

then celebrated the very success of his "sell out" album.


He isn't better than Kendrick, he's the psuedo-experimental rapper for dudes who
likely had Lupe fiasco as the first rapper they ever heard that didn't rap about guns & coke.


Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Thundercat + Kendrick Lamar > Lupe fiasco, his team of producers and the atlantic songwriters who helped him pump out lasers.

You can taste the bitterness whenever he talks about Kendrick. If people want to argue he is better with references and other lyrical games, sure. But I’m never going to be impressed by a dude rapping from the perspective of a hamburger, sorry. Just nikkas being obtuse on purpose because Lupe for as lyricial as hell he is, is not that type of Lyrical miracle rapper.
hes a conceptual storytelling lyricist. Hence why he makes albums like Drogas, Tetsuo, The cool.

Some nikkas know this and just play stupid like lupe is canibus just so they can big up Kendrick or whoever. Or nikkas have never listened to his music.

which is funny in some aspects and topics kendrick fans love to use and say Kendrick is a lyricist to glorify him to oppose certain acts , but in topics like these nikkas like to downplay Lyricism like its not that important now

Some are sitting here detracting from him simply cause he does this and isnt as straightforward as Kendrick. Which is weird because in one breath they will complain about lack of lyricism or the sort.

A lot of people in this very thread going on about writing in Hip-Hop
and what does or doesn't constitute good writing would put someone like:

Alfred Tennyson over Gil Scott-heron or Charles Bukowski

based purely on his (admittedly fantastic) command of the English language
and not necessarily what that command of it is used to say. The discussion
could get deeper but the coli isn't ready for it, so I'll laugh at the memes and let it
