Accurate and the wild shyt is that everything also applies to his geek ass internet stans. These nikkas wake up every morning furious that Lupe doesn't have the love and accolades that Kendrick has. Damn shame.

Neither one of these dudes are "in the spotlight" and
I clearly don't care about whether or not someone is underground.
So try again breh.

Agreed.
A lot of people in this very thread going on about writing in Hip-Hop
and what does or doesn't constitute good writing would put someone like:

Alfred Tennyson over Gil Scott-heron or Charles Bukowski

based purely on his (admittedly fantastic) command of the English language
and not necessarily what that command of it is used to say. The discussion
could get deeper but the coli isn't ready for it, so I'll laugh at the memes and let it
stop there.
i somewhat agree with you, but Kendrick and Skyzoo are not Gil scott. So whatever your trying to insuinate in this case dont work like that.
Kendrick is over wordy and uses alot of wasteful words, forced contrived unsatisfying attempts of rhyming at times, etc.
Skyzoo is that to on top of carrying the negative connotations you associate Lupe with.

Lupe's writing is not flawless he has some corny lines and can be overwordy, but his lyricism and how its used makes up for it in some ways.
And he can be pretty straightforward(for Lupes standards) and he does a good job at that while maintaining lyrical ability. Which adds to what hes saying

so if your trying to imply that kendrick or Skyzzo is superior writers, they really arent:mjlol:

Kendrick has been ducking everyone, he def dont want it with Lu, Kendrick isnt even the best lyricist on TDE

Lets be fair here

Kendrick went at Drake, Jay Electronica, and Big Sean and Drake ducked him AND bytched about it.

Kendrick doesn’t duck everyone

Lupe is basically this generation's Canibus.

Like Canibus his fans will swear to you he's the greatest "lyricist" and "technical rapper" but ultimately these terms were already irrelevant when Canibus debued let alone in 2020.

None of this shyt means anything unless it equates to strong music. Lupe's music has become increasingly become more opaque and less memorable. It's now niche music. The hip hop equivalent of prog rock. Technically brilliant but utterly self indulgent and only appealing to a small hardcore group of fans.

So if you wanna say he's technically better you can have it but it's a title that means very little at this point in the game. It will be Kendrick's music that is remembered and praised in the decades to come. Lupe can have his little weird corner of the Internet just like Canibus.

Lupe has made WAYYYY better albums than Canibus ever did.

I'm not going to get deep into it, you feel how you feel.

You're missing the forest for the trees because you're only arguing lyrics.
I'm jumping past that and arguing they're superior artists.
Writing. Music. Concepts. All of that.
"ask bodie for a package" and the implications of the normalization of criminality in
relation to The Wire. Says SO much and it's fukking dope. "Institutionalized" hits just like that.

"How much a dollar cost" and the idea of the worth of a dollar and the futility of chasing it
says a lot and it's not just with the use of lyrics. It's how the music changes in relation
to the theme, it's using the whole medium of song writing to tell a story.

Since we're talking about rappers I think are dope:
Blu <---- Who Lupe wishes he was. That's why he started rocking Jesus fitteds. NoYork!, is one of the dopest
Hip-Hop albums ever. :yeshrug:
Oddisee
Home Boy Sandman
Murs
Phonte

All 5 have dropped heat rocks that's up there with Lupe's best in the past decade.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Lupe let a major label take over his album, pretended to be "against the machine"
then celebrated the very success of his "sell out" album.

He isn't better than Kendrick, he's the psuedo-experimental rapper for dudes who
likely had Lupe fiasco as the first rapper they ever heard that didn't rap about guns & coke.

Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Thundercat + Kendrick Lamar > Lupe fiasco, his team of producers and the atlantic songwriters who helped him pump out lasers.
Lupe is a hypocrite sometimes and says dumb shyt sometimes. He’s still a better lyricist than Kendrick and T&Y >>>>>>> TPAB.

You can taste the bitterness whenever he talks about Kendrick. If people want to argue he is better with references and other lyrical games, sure. But I’m never going to be impressed by a dude rapping from the perspective of a hamburger, sorry. I swear I Gave You Power spawned so many corny ass songs from rappers trying to do the same thing.

Lupe actually did this? What would inspire an idea like that? :gucci:

NoYork! > T&Y :blessed:
The Iliad is Dead and the Odyssey is Over > T&Y
The Gold Standard > T&Y
Time In Between Thoughts > T&Y
All This Time > T&Y
Good To Be Home > T&Y
TPWOWR > T&Y

Mick Jenkins in general > Lupe.

Some albums that aren't even necessarily Hip-Hop but Hip-Hop adjacent:
Dinner Party > T&Y
Universal Beings > T&Y
You're dead!, Flamagra > T&Y
Drunk, It is what it is > T&Y

And so on.

Lupe's cool, I just don't feel he's the goat.
Also remember, there's people in this thread going hard for Lu
that don't just think he's a nice rapper.
They think he's better than EVERYONE, Nas included.
