i somewhat agree with you, but Kendrick and Skyzoo are not Gil scott. So whatever your trying to insuinate in this case dont work like that.
Kendrick is over wordy and uses alot of wasteful words, forced contrived unsatisfying attempts of rhyming at times, etc.
Skyzoo is that to on top of carrying the negative connotations you associate Lupe with.

Lupe's writing is not flawless he has some corny lines and can be overwordy, but his lyricism and how its used makes up for it in some ways.
And he can be pretty straightforward(for Lupes standards) and he does a good job at that while maintaining lyrical ability. Which adds to what hes saying

so if your trying to imply that kendrick or Skyzzo is superior writers, they really arent:mjlol:

I'm not going to get deep into it, you feel how you feel.

You're missing the forest for the trees because you're only arguing lyrics.
I'm jumping past that and arguing they're superior artists.
Writing. Music. Concepts. All of that.
"ask bodie for a package" and the implications of the normalization of criminality in
relation to The Wire. Says SO much and it's fukking dope. "Institutionalized" hits just like that.

"How much a dollar cost" and the idea of the worth of a dollar and the futility of chasing it
says a lot and it's not just with the use of lyrics. It's how the music changes in relation
to the theme, it's using the whole medium of song writing to tell a story.

Since we're talking about rappers I think are dope:
Blu <---- Who Lupe wishes he was. That's why he started rocking Jesus fitteds. NoYork!, is one of the dopest
Hip-Hop albums ever. :yeshrug:
Oddisee
Home Boy Sandman
Murs
Phonte

All 5 have dropped heat rocks that's up there with Lupe's best in the past decade.

I'm enjoying this debate. :ehh:

im not, theres a reason I said what I said about Kendrick's writing and skyzoos im not focusing on their writing from just a bar perspective.

There writing itself is messy and has flaws its why i was never really a fan of the two when I listening to them from the start, I have known about them since 2009/2010
Their not superior artist either IMO
Iin terms of wrapping together music., writing and concepts, their shyt is either pretty avg as a idea, not executed well, or shallow.

Which brings me to TPAB which is a very shallow album in some parts IMO

How much a dollar cost" is very shallow and very silly in its concept especially given the conclusion of the story of losing your place in heaven on the eye of God simply cause you don't give a dollar way. the fact people praise this song is baffling given its horrible analysis of how people function and why they dont give their money away.

Even if you justify it in the narrative of the album as a whole to kendrick The track is pretty forced and nonsensical to real life.. Its something a 17 year old would write

not to say Lupe's shyt isnt flawed. theres def flaws. And Lupe's overwordiness can be a issue. but it acts as a benefit in ways to

kendrick i will give for more acceptable music in the mainstream but thats for some reasons I dont feel like goin into as it would be long

BUT SKYZOO? LOLOLOL Hell no, he is not a better rapper than Lu or a better Artist.

And neither is Blu either, blu is cool but FOH.:mjlol::mjlol:

Fam there’s nikkas I personally bang with from the 2010s more than both like Roc Marci Reloaded >>>>> anything Kendrick ever dropped imo. But I really don’t think it’s arguable who’s a better lyricist. Kendrick isn’t a better lyricist than Lupe. That’s what this thread is about at the end of the day. Lol

DO YOU GUYS SEE THAT?

You see what's happening?

This thing is borderline about to trend on twitter
and if you look at everyone's comment, surprisingly everyone is saying Lupe is the better lyricists
Now I agree with that, but to hear that many people say that is crazy

Twitter is overwhelmingly handing the crown over to Lupe

I thought this was an old thread because variations of it get made periodically.

Like Lupe just said, he's a better lyricist but can't make better songs. At the end of the day the finished product is what matters. If they both want to pass out their verses typed out on paper for us to read....Lupe got this.

Not sure what good that is, but hey. Get your wins where you can I guess. And for the record I'm not a big Kendrick fan, either.

Never listened to or heard of skyzoo. But off this post, I'm gonna check him out.

Music For My Friends is a dope album.
It tells the story of a kid who grew up around other economically disadvantaged
children, befriended them and they remain life long friends.
The album deviates from the overarching theme at times but songs like:

See a Key (KI), The Moments That Matter, Asking Bodie For A Package and Things I should've
told my friends, they're pretty dope IMO.

A dope album.
Pete Rock lays the musical foundation for this album with Skyzoo scribing
over the top. Pure. Unfiltered Hip-Hop. Hart Beats. Dope Flows.
ill album.

Another fantastic album.
Again, it talks about economic disparity, criminality by circumstance, opportunity
etc. A lot of common staples in "Conscious" Hip-Hop but it's done so skillfully with
speeches, sound bites, skits and ill production that's part-sampled/part-live instruments.

Hoodie SZN, Honor Amongst Thieves, Everybody's Fine are standouts on this album.
It's dope to hear this idea of growth and fatherhood as he relates it to himself.
Especially because he'd go on to become a father as well.

Just came out. I haven't listened to it yet but I'm sure it's fire.
Check it out.
