I think they did legit have big short-term temporary plans for him, knowing full well he had too many holes in his game to be a long-term main-eventer. They probably wanted to strike while the iron was hot, but that kinda got derailed and since then he's been kept around strictly because of his freakish appearance. It's a matter of time before he either fails a drug test or starts getting those injuries that steroid freaks are more susceptible to. Not the kind of dude you want as your champ.

All three members of The Shield are better bets for the long term. So yeah, easy choice to pick them over Ryback.

It was only a month because they screwed him over. I said it before he should not have lost until WM and he could have become a heel or tweener. And Aqua is right, he was sacrificed for the Shield who have never been over enough to justify their push.

Truth be told, I would say that timing screwed him over more than anything (at first. Booking took care of the rest), and I can agree with the thought that they shouldn't have had him lose after he separated from Punk. But he was only ever arena over for a very short amount of time, and at no point whatsoever was he ready to carry anything at a main event level. And that fact becomes more obvious the more we see him work and talk.

Pretty much, if you check out at :11; Ryback is cut good, because he was heavily into body building. I don't think he uses steroids, but he simply took up the hobby at a young age.
