You can tell the story of Hip-Hop without mentioning a lot of nikkas - doesn't mean it would be a great story.

Early/mid 2000s Clipse gave that Neptune sound major credibility. Helped usher in the entire skater/bboy type era that Wayne mastered.

That’s a wild reimagining of reality IMO….the Neptunes were producing legit smash hits years before anyone knew who the clipse were…their first single flopped, first album shelved and they were dropped from their first label …we likely don’t even know what a Pusha T is if the clipe weren’t Pharrell’s homies and he wasn’t able to personally sign them to Star Trek after he got a label deal off the strength of the hits the Neptunes produced for other acts…Neptunes gave the clipse credibility, not the other way around…Grindin’ could’ve went to Jigga or Jada or Fab or Busta or Nelly and been just as big or bigger….Clipse without unlimited production from THE super producers of that period could’ve easily ended up Ram Squad level long forgotten mid-hour Rap City fodder

Have never associated clipse with any skater Era, but whatever you’re thinking of is probably more accurately attributed to Pharrell…or Spitta via Pharrell if we’re talking Wayne

With all that said, I’m not gonna say you’re wrong for putting Pusha in a top 50 greatest list…it’s all subjective…given the parameters billboard laid out, which takes impact and relevance into account I’m partial to Jimmy’s reasoning…to me Pusha has been largely adjacent to greatness, hard to single him out as top 50 of all time standing on his own….and even if someone has him there, he’s far from some all time great that HAS to be on the list …not having him there is far from controversial

I’m from VA, went to college with nothin but 757 nggas, know a few people who are 1 or 2 folk removed from Pusha, I go to his ramen spot in dc all the time. Pusha is home team all day…..And I can say his career standing and contribution to hip hop is overrated
