This has been a rough sports summer and I need a fix. My dad and brother are into baseball heavy so I want to see what they see in the game. So help me understand the subtle things I should look for and the things that will keep me into the game. Also help me pick a team I would be a braves fan but we ass at the moment. :manny:

I need help with positions, rotations and the bullpen. Stats also?

Personally, I find baseball is hard sport to get into if you weren't raised on it. Not as in its overly complex, just hard to care about. Especially with all all these "unwritten rules" basically telling players not to have fun with it.

This is true..was raised on baseball (pops still scores every game...) and as a red sox fan shyt was hard as hell for a while...also when picking a team dnt be on some "they aint good now fukk them" cause everyteam can turn it around...its almost as much fun watching the young kids come up during a rebuild as it is winning.

1st Turn the game on.

Now this is where understanding the game gets complicated so pay close attention. Write it down if you need to.

2nd grab a pillow and a blanket and get ready to enjoy some of the best sleep of your life.

3rd wake up 4 hours later and catch the last inning.

Something extra not mentioned, but make sure you're prepared to fall asleep during the last inning also. I recommend a tempurpedic pillow.

Baseball rules aren't complex.
But the scenarios that players have to do before each pitch ARE complex.

That's the part the casual fan doesn't understand.
They just see people standing around. But man on 1st and 2nd...line drive hit to center...who covers 2nd? Who's the cutoff man? What if there's a double steal? What if he bunts? And so on.
All these little things have to get processed by every position player before every single pitch depending on where the ball is hit, or not hit...what kind of hit (pop up, line drive, grounder...)

It's a way more cerebral game than people think.
