Afflalo needs to step up and do more than pretend to be iso Melo when Melo is out. I'd like to think that he's supposed to bed the second option out there and thus should be trying to get Kristaps going like Melo tries to

Arron is 3rd on the team in assisting KP: NBA.com/Stats, so apparently, he does a great job of "trying to get Kristaps going like Melo tries to". He had 3 assists last night (2nd on the team), so the facts doesn't support your narrative that he doesn't "do more than pretend to be iso Melo when Melo is out". How many assists would you have liked Arron to have? 'Melo certainly doesn't average more than Arron had last night. Arron is 5th on the team in assists and he barely gets the ball. KP is 9th in assists, even though his usage is much higher than Arron's because KP looks to shoot it every time he gets it. If Arron did that, it would make sense because he's the shooting guard and a great one at that.

It's so lame that it's always someone else's fault whenever KP doesn't save the day. It's not 'Melo's, Arron's, or any other non-pg's job to "try to get KP going". It's their job to get themselves going. It's not their job to develop KP. He's a grown man. He needs to get in the gym and get himself going. That said, KP's 17 points on 58% from the field shows that KP "got going" just fine. Arron is "the 2nd option out there", even though the franchise wants to force KP as that. He averages the 2nd most points on the team (he and KP are both at 13.9 ppg) on a much better fg% than KP, but they still allow KP to take shots from Arron, the shooting guard. Arron also gets double and triple-teamed consistently, which gets KP wide open shots, just like 'Melo does, again showing that Arron is the real 2nd option.

Getting assists and setting teammates up to get in a rhythm is two different things.

Getting assists and setting teammates up to get in a rhythm is two different things.

Involving your teammates, by giving up the ball gets them into a rhythm and contradicts your narrative that he doesn't "do more than pretend to be iso 'Melo when 'Melo is out". Arron is doing more than he is paid to do. He's 3rd in assisting KP (see my edit). It's not any non-pg's job to "try to get KP going". It's their job to get themselves going, especially the shooting guard. It's not their job to develop KP. He's a grown man. He needs to get in the gym and get himself going.

Arron also gets double and triple-teamed consistently, which gets KP wide open shots, and that also, as Bosh put it, "creates rhythm". KP is benefiting from the labor Arron has put in to make himself such a great player. And 17 points on 58% shooting shows KP's rhythm was just fine.

I hate early games, teams never look sharp and it's usually just a sloppy game with less intensity than a HS rivalry game. Should be the game we get back on track, with or without Melo though, in fact I'd probably prefer he get extra rest for the ankle because we really shouldn't lose to Philly even without dude.

As long as Calderon is starting, we'll be susceptible be quick point guards. Get ready for our bigs to get into early foul trouble. Get ready for easy Philly putback dunks because our bigs are trying to prevent Ish Smith lay ups.
