Melo to Cleveland makes no sense. Him & LeBron play the same position, and LaLa isn't moving to the bum ass Midwest. Only real options would be the Clippers or Miami, and neither team has the cap space to make that work. And then their is also the fact that Melo DOESN'T want to leave NY, which is totally lost on a lot of people making all these trade scenarios.
Positions are fleeting, doggie. Don't get caught up in 1,2,3,4,5. Melo and LeBron played beautifully together on Team USA. Plus Melo is actually best at the 4 now, anyway, and LeBron still operates mostly from the wing.
LeBron at the 3, Melo at the 4, Thompson at the 5 in s small-ball style death lineup, with Kyrie and another defender on the floor. Let it rock and expand your mind.
And why are we talking about LaLa, man? It's not like being in new york has opened up a bunch of job opportunities - so she can live anywhere, and still be Melo's wife, hell, she could even stay in new york. Plenty of players keep their families where they're comfortable during the season.
If we could get Skal or Korkmaz, I'm down to part with RoLo. I think they'd be gone though. I really like Malachi Richardson in that case. But if we could keep RoLo and instead push for 28 where we can grab a Thon Maker to develop; I think I'd prefer that. RoLo would be a deadline mover for 2017 assets in that case. I really think after this FA session, his contract will be viewed as extremely valuable (especially on a tanking team where his numbers might get an even bigger boost than they already got to close our past season).
Oh yeah, his contract is already very valuable. And I think Skal, Korkmaz, or Luwawu will be there at 13. Those are REALLY good values.
Anyway, this deal is of course a pipedream, but it's a nice pipedream that lines up with where this team should be looking. Which is a nice change of pace.
