Every time I see the potential contracts FA's are looking at this offseason, I start thinking teams should be buyers just because of the inflation. Conley, Derozan, Howard...those guys are gonna be more expensive than Melo. Whether that will trickle down to the middle tier getting overpaid is uncertain though.

It's a good point.

That's why it's better to go after somebody like Teague rather than take chances of Conley because you'll be paying him 3 times as much... Unfortunately you don't have the assets, love to see you at least get shroeder if possible

All these players that are under contract now long term before the salaries blow up are more valuable

The thought of Conley getting a salary that starts at 25 mil per year is scary. I mean he's in the top tier of guards, and it may look reasonable in a couple years, but that's a lot to wrap my mind around. Question is, is it worth it to the Knicks to have a contract like that on the books with the team the way it is? I really don't know myself. I wish the team had the assets to trade for a pg on a longer, smaller deal right now.

Born Ready in NY. :wow:

If he gets waived, sign him and try him at pg. He was always better with the ball in his hands, and fukk it, why not?

We'll probably wait to see who is cut (Lance, maybe Jennings) and pick them up. Jimmer might get the call if nobody is cut (though I feel Lance is damn near guaranteed to be cut)

Still I rather this than they trade a pick. I bet a bunch of b*stard GM's out there demanded a pick for even a bullshyt trade.

:birdman:

I hope Melo was like come play with me for the Knicks as all that chatter was happening:patrice:

Some guys that are mediocre but could be worth a look for roster balance... JJ Hickson (we need a true PF on our bench imo and we have 4 C's), Kevin Martin (Again, we have one true SG and tweeners, so even though he's damn near done he's worth a minimum contract to take Sasha off the court for good), David Lee (same reason as JJ Hickson; it's mainly just to have a true PF option off the bench).

Those guys are all on the block, so maybe our trash looks better to their respective teams. It doesn't move us to playoff contention, just gives a bit more roster balance. Those guys also all seem like Waiver candidates, so we could offer trash for trash and if it doesn't work out..hope that they get dumped and we can pick 'em up.

Not star guys I don't think we can get with our limitations but I'd like...Ben Mclemore, like I said a few days ago, he needs a change of scenery and still has a ton of upside, you don't get potential like that for cheap typically but he's in the "maybe" category since he wants out and Sacramento wants to oblige. Andre Miller as a mentor for our young G's before he retires, I just wouldn't give up anything of value for a 39 year old. One guy is young to develop with our other youth and then one guy is brought in to help the development of our current youth.

Where is JJ Hickson even playing nowadays? Must be one of those teams I don't watch...I remember he used to have some good energy, which could be a plus for us. Kind of disappointed in O'Quinn, I felt there were nice glimpses in the preseason and early on but didn't really work out that much...or maybe it was due to lack of PT?
