Don't make a Dragic level offer (completely aside here, but I think Dragic is a great PG in a poor fit situation personnel wise and could be worth his contract in the right spot but not the contract AND the assets given up). The Knicks should make inquiries about Rubio and Teague, but treat those guys how their organizations are currently treating them...as large contracts that those teams would like to dump. Is it likely to work and land us either guy? Probably not. But they'll both be pretty affordable in the new salary era and they're comparable to the majority of players in this FA class if not better. So approaching those two organizations with a "we're not about to give you presents while we take an unwanted player off your hands, but we'll give you a modest return and some cap space" won't hurt. I wouldn't count on it working at all, but it's a swing I take since there's nothing to lose in doing it. Bonus points if they actually manage to convince someone like Layden (because it's Layden and we know Layden) that Calderon is a vet his young guys could use and KOQ is a tough big that Vogel could tune...but that's seriously chasing pipedream.

Dude's been rumored to be on the trading block on and off for two years straight. Like I said, it's not likely to go anywhere but you reach out as someone who would eat the contract and give some minor assets back.

JR re-writing history a lil bit in that interview. They got traded coming off the 37 win season, not the 54 win season. JR played with CP3 too. But they were young then. I guess he mentioned Melo and Bron cuz he played with them in their primes.
