did you read what you posted? without them we have no substantial edge on other nations, but yet they are useless because maybe sometime in the future other nations will develop something that will counter it while we stand still and do nothing apparently. they'll have the money to innovate but our money will somehow cause us to stagnate?

and the aircraft carrier is about projecting power ... having floating military bases all over the damn ocean, just like we have actual military bases surrounding these other countries. it's certainly not for war with china or russia because i hope you all know that we're not getting involved in a hot war with countries that have nuclear weapons. the latest greatest sub can't carry 75 fighter jets, but then again i guess those are obsolete too. they serve a purpose and that purpose isn't obsolete.

oh and don't worry russia or china isn't any danger and neither is the US. be worried when someone develops a fully functional comprehensive missile defense shield. then you'll get your hot wars between world powers.

The question is DID YOU...you have to read between the lines..they admit they can only be used to "project force" on certain countries..and the number is shrinking fast...in other words they already cant be used on Russia,China,India,Iran,N korea because they already have missiles and other countermeasures that make defending them impossible...in 10 years this list will be too large to make the costs worth it.

I bet in 10-20 years they will end up decommissioning most of them or re purposing them

Don't think anyone in here is stanning Putin. Just being realistic about things. Hell I used to think the usa was invincible, unstoppable, etc etc.. then I started paying attention.

The nations are already at war. Right now is just the cold phase until preparations are completed.

Those nations aren't stupid.. they know there would be loses. So they've been building bunkers and shelters for their populations
