Production team like Tribe?? Watch the docu. Tip produced the bulk of the first 3 Tribe records. The nikka produced most if not all of Low End Theory
It was only on the last 2 records that the production collective The Ummah (Dilla, Tip, etc.) produced the tracks. Before that it was mostly Tip.
You would expect music insiders at the time to know and reach out to whoever was the creative force behind Tribes shyt. So if Tip was getting the calls...
Thanks for the response...
So what did ali shaheed do on which tracks on the first joint if anything at all?
This should be a threadOver chocolate boy wonder??![]()
So Ali was mostly doing R&B type stuff? In hindsight though, a lot of the tracks produced by The Ummah was probably mainly Dilla and Ali Shaheed. Ali Shaheed produced on Brown Sugar and a lot of the music they were pumping out at the time had that same vibe, especially the Lucy Pearl stuff. Got Til It's Gone was definitely a Dilla track.

While Q-Tip's solo productions had that hard MM sound to them?
I think it's pretty clear then who was behind the classic Tribe sound...
