Happens all the time. Mainly with hooks and shyt. I've seen cats in the studio vibin together throwin bars at each other. Kinda like the game 50 situation when 50 had full records written and recorded and he gave game the joints already formated to where all game had to do was spit verses. Cadences were already laid out etc. 50 didnt write his verses he jus gave him hits that needed bars. Rappers get inspired by shyt all of the time. Sometimes u use references to point u in the right direction
Truth. Happens all the time.
Kanye gave Hov bars for "Lucifer".
"Man I gotta get my soul right
I gotta get these Devils out my life
These cowards gonna make a nikka ride
They won't be happy 'til somebody dies
Man I gotta get my soul right
'For I'm locked up for my whole life
Everytime it seems it's all right
Somebody want they soul to rise"
This is what goes on in studios everyday. It's a part of the process. Whether cats like it or not. A reference for a feature is weak. I don't know about that one. But dudes build on songs all day. It's been happening since the very beginning. Drake being as popular and successful as he is magnifies it for people, I guess. But it's nothing new, and it's not going to stop either.
