Question: do you miss blockbuster?

I drove all the way to South Carolina to go to the last Video Warehouse in the South.

I miss brick and mortar video stores, period.

Absolutely. Trying to get as far as you can on a weekend with a game, watching that movie that you missed out on in theaters at home. It's all more convenient now, but it doesn't feel the same

I miss physical locations, and I suppose the presented experience inside.

I don't miss their penny pinching and BS.

Yes, but even bigger than Blockbuster I miss having limited access to forms of entertainment like movies, music, etc.

I felt like I appreciated them more then than I do now.

I remember getting a PS1 on Christmas and that same day we went to a rental store that was open to rent X-Men vs Street Fighter.

YES!

I still feel there is a place for video rental stores.

Not everyone still has streaming or even wifi

Also not everything accessible

Like if I wanna watch Iron Eagle, Gymkata, American Ninja 3, The Strongest Man in the World (Kurt Russell classic) where can I find those? Cuz they not on Netflix

Not really. When I was a broke 8-year old, it served its purpose tho.

i.e. Much easier to get my folks to rent me Taz Escape from Mars, Tiny Toons Acme All Stars, or Sonic 3 for a random weekend for $5, since they weren’t gon pay full price for shyt that wasn’t an Xmas gift

I kinda hate this died out before I was adult myself just for the date nights. Loved going to blockbuster as a kid to rent a game(based on the boxart) and movie each weekend.

As a part of my childhood, sure. One of my favorite memories as a kid was going into Blockbuster after Christmas in 2001 and seeing Super Smash Bros Melee on the shelf, and grabbing the last copy for rent. Smash was my favorite 64 game, and I had no idea there was a sequel to it (I was nine). Going into that game cold and just experiencing this supercharged version of my favorite game was awesome.

That being said if there was a Blockbuster in my neighborhood, I wouldn't use it.

Yes but as a complete part of the entertainment circle.

From the promotional events, advertisement, and movie and gaming promotions.

If blockbusters reopened as they are now it would be whack and inconvenient UNLESS they got movies and games earlier than average retail spots or online storefronts.
