Help Desk is the start, then you can begin thinking about your specialty (coding/scripting/networking). Do that for a year or 2, then get a cert, continue to move up..

Yeah, don't let others bring you down or discourage you from your goal. Help Desk is just a start, not an end...

There were a couple of 40+ dudes hired at my job on HD that weren't techies, they just interviewed well. One breh came over from real estate but he had great personal skills, which is needed for an entry tech position as you will be dealing with clients directly.

I have time to change my degree plan from Buisness Analytics to either Information Technology or Cybersecurity.
Which degree looks better when you are applying for jobs

I'm EE, but I'm getting my Masters in Cybersecurity with no experience whatsover, not even basic help desk

But I do hv a Sec + cert..

Anyway, how can finesse this advanced degree wit no experience into a 6figure pay??

Lol lie on your resume. Also get certified ethical hacker cert or cism or cissp. Those are DOD level 3 certs you have to have for certain govt positions/contracts. Tbh you don’t even have to get that masters in cyber security. That EE bachelors + the certs I mentioned + “experience on your resume” will have plenty of recruiters fighting to speak with you.

tbh it doesn’t really matter. Like I said above experience is really what sets you apart. I mean I guess all things equal the cybersecurity degree would be best but depending on the time investment it would take for you to get it I’m not sure it’s even worth.
