Everybody in her saying Hendrix, but y’all not giving no love to the two men that birthed him!!! Chuck Berry and Johnny “Guitar” Watson they gave Hendrix everything to run free with they were doing those things back in the mid 1950’s and early 1960’s. Give those two legends they flowers MAN🙏🏿💯😂
You can give them they flowers but they still not better than Jimi. A lot of people say Jimi the goat for a reason. It’s not just fans but it’s actual musicians even legendary musicians who call him the greatest

I had a feeling that’s what it was, Jimi is the go-to for people when talking guitarist just like Big and PAC are for casual rap fans. I feel the same about Bob Marley he is the guy, but Bob isn’t even the best Reggae artist not even close he is in the Top 10, but he isn’t the head of it all in my opinion.

Feel like people don’t really listen to music they just fall in line with what is being said without researching!
Exactly. Jimi Hendrix is like Charlie "Bird" Parker is for Jazz. They were very talented and innovative, but they were also high as Hell most of the time and they played extremely fast and loud. People just accept that loudness as being good when in fact many times it was just a loud.

People forget Hendrix came from a blues background. They think he was all about playing loud and fast, but he could play traditional slowed down blues as good as anyone.

He was very versatile. Shame we never got more acoustic stuff from him before he passed.

Rock and roll is the Blues. Freddie King could play the Hell out of Rock and roll, but he was a bluesman through and through. Elmore James was another fantastic bluesman that could kill Rock and roll.

My only question is how many people that keep saying Jimi Hendrix have ever listened to any of the great bluesmen play?

If you're talking to me, I've heard it all. Albert King, Jimmy Reed, Elmore James, Buddy Guy, BB King, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Watters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, etc.

It set the foundation for when I first picked up a guitar.
