Kobe had the ball more and took more shots than Shaq for the last 4 seasons they played together. He had a couple seasons with Shaq were he attempted more shots than Durant ever has. Playing with Shaq is no excuse. He didn't score less because of Shaq he scored less because of his inefficiency (in comparison to Durant).

:laff: at KD just being a "very good scorer". Talk about stuff you can't take with a straight face. :dead:

Of course it doesn't compute because you don't want it to. I laid it out pretty thoroughly :manny:

Kevin Durant is a very good scorer. What else do you want me to say? He's not an elite scorer of all-time:ufdup:

Kevin Durant's current career high ppg of 30.1 doesnt even crack the top 39 of all-time. Even right now, he's at 31.8 ppg this season, which is barely top 25 (#25 exactly)

Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Rick Barry, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Bob McAdoo, Tiny Archibald, George Gervin, Allen Iverson, Bernard King, and Tracy McGrady have ALL put up higher single season scoring averages than what Kevin Durant is doing this season:ufdup:

Secondly, you keep talking about "last 4 seasons"......who the hell made up that number and why do I have to even acknowledge that? You're trying to force an agenda, by moving the goal post but it aint working:russ:

Kobe played 8 seasons with Shaq. With Shaq on the Lakers Kobe averaged 21.8 ppg in his career. Without Shaq, Kobe's averaged 28.5 ppg in his career.

Bottomline

If Kobe's such a great scorer, then how come he does not consistently outscore his peers? He has 2 scoring titles in 18 seasons. Tmac had just as many with less healthy seasons.

Some people claim Kobe's better at scoring than Wilt because Wilt had crappy competition. If you make that leap in logic, how do you ignore the fact Kobe cannot outscore his own peers?

Kobe didnt win a scoring title until he no longer had Shaq on the team.

Again, to go from having a career average of 21.8 ppg over your 1st 8 seasons playing with Shaq, to averaging 28.5 ppg and winning 2 scoring titles in the next 10 seasons without him is a huge jump.

So, take all his seasons without shaq. Compare them to KD.

Compare their scoring PPG per age.

When Kobe did not have Shaq, he was LOSING the scoring title to Tmac, AI, Lebron, KD.

And here's the clincher: KObe has only ONE!!! 50 point game in the playoffs. A great scorer should be able to score at will when it fukking matters.

Why don't you just admit you overrate him?

His career ppg ranks 5th. :yeshrug:.

The last 4 seasons where Kobe really came into his own and was a superstar player. And like I said even when you include his whole career with Shaq Kobe's attempts and usage rate are comparable to Durants but his PPG is not. :yeshrug:

I just had to add Wade the GAWD in there as well.

Kobe is at 28.5 ppg.
Kevin Durant is at 27.2 ppg

Compare their scoring PPG per age.

Kobe played with Shaq until he was 26.

When Kobe did not have Shaq, he was LOSING the scoring title to Tmac, AI, Lebron, KD.

Kobe won the scoring title 2 times in 10 seasons.
LeBron has won it 1 time in 10 seasons.
McGrady won the scoring title 2 times in 15 seasons.
AI has won the scoring title 4 times in 14 seasons
Durant will have won the scoring title 4 times in 7 seasons

And here's the clincher: KObe has only ONE!!! 50 point game in the playoffs. A great scorer should be able to score at will when it fukking matters.

Kobe has scored 40 or more a total of 13 times including the 50 point game

Kevin Durant's career high is only 41 points in the playoffs though and he's only reached 40 4 times, so what are we talking about here?

Oh, a great scorer should be able to score at will when it fukking matters........right?:mjpls:

Why don't you just admit you overrate him?

Facts dont lie

Kobe is at 28.5 ppg.
Kevin Durant is at 27.2 ppg

Then explain this: Wilt's career average is higher than Kobe. HOw is kobe a better scorer? At this point, you yell and scream that Wilt played in a different era. If that's true, however, why don't we see kobe outscoring his own peers?

Let's take a look at your own chart in this regard.

The highlighted portions? They basically confirm the OP's point. If you want scoring output to be normalized vs competition, what better way to measure than against competition? That's why whoever wins the scoring title in a given year is an important measure of who is the best scorer.

Let's take a look at two other oddities. First, Mcgrady. He won 2 times in about 5 healthy seasons. He also won it when Kobe played with Shaq and Kobe was taking just as many shots. A healthy Tmac was a better scorer than Kobe.

Then, let's compare Kobe to Jordan. And have a good laugh :JJ:

Kevin Durant's career high is only 41 points in the playoffs though and he's only reached 40 4 times, so what are we talking about here?

[/QUOTE]

Compare his 40 point games total, divide by number of playoff games.

Do the same for Kobe.

Sorry, I dont have time to come back yet. I'm in another thread, but I'll be back.

I will say this though. I never said Kobe is a greater scorer than Wilt Chamberlain, have I? That's ridiculous. I dont take into account numbers from pre merger NBA, but Wilt would still been at least a 30-35 ppg scorer in the NBA for his career if he played in the modern NBA.

Good points about the Kevin Durant 40 points:obama:

Right now I still think Kobe is the more explosive scorer but Durant has nearly as many different ways as Kobe does to score and him being near 7'0 feet with that jumper makes it clear to see that he may one day surpass Kobe as a scorer. Durant is more selective as a shooter and takes pride in his shooting percentage, while Kobe thinks he can hit any shot from any angle on the court. I think if Kobe played like Bron and KD in trying to keep his FG percentage high he could have shot nearly 50 percent too.

But would he score as many points?
