I realize Simmons owns his fan bias, but this was beyond a hot take. Perfect example of the type of discourse you're highlighting.
In reach wheregame was actually in reach too

Let’s not act like Lamar ain’t had Derrick Henry, Prime David Andrew’s and good O Line and like 5 pro bowlers on defense and has absolutely NOTHING to show for. Lamar Jackson won 3-5 playoff games in his 8 year career, 10 TDS, 7 Ints and 7 fumbles. Lamar Jackson is not top 4 even if Maye didn’t take his spot.
Allen
Stafford
Mahomes
Burrow
Are ahead.

If you cant trust Maye in a big spot like this & let him loose then you might as well trade him for Josh Allen.

They're gonna go from having the easiest schedule of the century (literally) to playing a first place schedule. Maye is too fearful, inaccurate and low iq to make the playoffs against good/great teams.
Multiple things can be true. What elite QB hasn't had struggles against top defenses...especially under pressure? Thats all he faced. You understand this. I understand this. But a whole lot of NFL Media didn't. This entire postseason, with each passing game, has been rife with discussion about how Maye has ascended to a level near the top of QB play in The League. Every game they won was a statement about Maye rather than how the Patriots were winning these games, and who against.
I don't have a problem with his play because I understand where he is in his progression. I thought it was clear all year that he's made a leap from Y1 to Y2, but not so much of a leap to put him next to the Allen class of guys. The playoffs began, and it was clear that the playoffs were a really big stage for him---->any competent offense is beating NE in a game Maye turned it over what, 4x? He was bailed out by the other QB (Stroud) being worse, but that's a game he should've lost.
The AFC Championship, the Patriots were on the fukking ropes until Stidham turned it over, Broncos were primed to go up two scores. Tonight proved what I already suspected, which is that a Maye-led offense is not yet able to overcome a two score deficit vs elite teams. If Denver goes up 10-0 or 14-0, they'd been the ones playing Seattle tonight.
The entire postseason put his weaknesses on a platter fir everyone to see.
