This part, i know @murksiderock is a great guy to have actual discourse with, but this thread just brings out knee jerk reactions and responses from others, everything starts with line play, if your tackle is in your lap from the start of the play well idk what you are expecting, “he read his first read and panics” well yeah he was getting his boots smoked if he held the ball longer than 3 seconds, also it’s year 2 and Seattle has a bunch of long fast dbs, windows are tighter than a gnats ass it’s a reason diggs name ain’t get called a lot

The true knee jerk reacting occurred in the regular season when sports analysts and fans were propping Maye up into being a MVP candidate even though those same people knew tha he was playing against defenses that averaged in the 20+ range.

So what happened as he faced better defenses was foreseeable.

I mean in hindsight it’s cool to say that but in the moment the kid was doing a lot of good things, playoffs can and do expose things

But hindsight cuts two ways. His playoff performance was predictable because he had rarely been tested by an above average defense during the season.

I am not critical of him as a young quarterback. I just think anyone that voted for him as MVP without taking into consideration who he played in the regular season is full of bull. He was never at the level of Stafford and therefore should not have ever been in the MVP discussion.

Drake Maye was an MVP caliber QB during the regular season. His bad playoff run has no correlation to how he performed during the regular season. Plenty of QB's have had great regular seasons, won MVP, been all pro, etc and were trash when the lights were brightest in the playoffs. It happens.

His stats in the regular season were based upon playing one weakest schedules in the history of the NFL. You have to factor that in ehen considering players for awards. Same for Vrabel. That should have been a factor in the voting.

I watched some breakdown videos from the all-22 and there were a lot of open receivers underneath that Maye missed. He was hitting these guys in the regular season. My only assumption is that his pre-snap reads fooled him because he didnt look at those underneath routes.

Nah he was simply scared.

The funny thing is, the 2023 dolphins also had an easy schedule and Tua had one of his best statiscal seasons that year. He was a legit mvp candidate at QB. But all I heard was “they had an easy schedule”. Why wouldn’t the samething apply to Maye? Is it because he had an SB run? Is it because he faced ferocious defenses? Well..cool. The 2023 dolphins got eliminate by the Kansas City defense that would win the SB a few weeks later and repeat. Tua was going up against playoff caliber and healthy AFC QBs. Maye while playing well, took advantage of a rather unusual afc season where QB play was down across the board and health kinda ruined a lot in the post season. Drake Maye being the heir apparent of the post-tom/post-bill pats and NFL media longing for aughts nostalgia, has given Drake Maye ALOT of good will. Where we get to see his flaws come to life in the post season, but handwave them off because he didn’t fukk up enough to prevent NE from getting to the big game. When you try argue Drake Maye being ahead of Lamar Jackson, that shows me all I need to know, in terms of the NFL media push, and what narratives are trying to be spun. Like why does bad QB play get hasnwqve when “certain” QBs get to the big game? :mjpls:

I’ve seen Hurts put up spectacular stats in TWO super bowls, and ppl still be iffy about his overall placing amongst QBs years later. :patrice:

It’s clear ppl were eager to drop Lamar off on these rankings. Just waiting for an opportune time. Meanwhile burrow missed another post season, and ppls perceptions of him are clean as a whistle.

You been living under a rock, all we been hearing about is the Patriots “Easy schedule” You can’t compare Maye and Tua Situations because If I were to ask you Rank these players in order 1-8

Tyreek Hill 1800 Yards 13TD
Stephon Diggs 1000yds
Kayson Boutte 550yds
Jaylen Waddle 1000yds
Raheem Mostert 1000yds 18 TD
Devon Achane (Rookie) 800 yds 8 TD 8YPC
LT- Will Campbell (Rookie)
Rhamondre Stevenson 600yds 7TD
LT- Terron Armstead (Pro Bowler)
Treveyon Henderson (Rookie) 900yds 9TD

Dolphins had the fastest most talented teams on offense ever assembled. Tua was just average. Maye with no weapons and a shaky Oline got us to the Super Bowl. Tua managed to score 7 points in the playoffs. At least Drake Maye scored 21 vs one of the best defenses the Texans.

TYRONE GA!
The Patriots are going to have a tough schedule next year so hopefully this narrative will be buried by then.
Pats have outside of the AFC East:
NFC North Next Season Rotation (Detroit, Green Bay, and Chicago won't be easy. Vikings should be a win if they rollout
IMG_5678.png
)
Seattle again for the 17th game strength of schedule vs the NFC and the Jags and Steelers for their AFC strength of schedule games.
AFC West Rotation (Only trash team is the Raiders)

Seattle, Jags, and Pittsburgh are good strength of schedule games. Gonna be hard with the Jags and Seahawks games on the road though. Steelers game is in Foxboro so that should be a win.

Only garbage games IMO are both Jets games, Miami games, Raiders, and Vikings.

Denver
KC
Chargers
Detroit
Green Bay
Chicago
Seattle
Jax
Pitt
Buffalo 2x

Def not the cakewalk they had this past season
