illmatic is arguably the greatest hip hop album of all time while quik is the name is a cool debut album :stopitslime:
Revisionist History. Album was hyped into being more than it was. Both had no big guests. Quik's singles charted higher and more importantly his album and songs were hotter in the streets.
Song's like

Were waaaaaaaaaaaaaay hotter than them illmatic songs in the streets. And for the record,i had illmatic (when it came out) and didnt even own quik is the name when it came out. (No bias) from me and i'm in Ohio. Closer to the east than west.

i loved Quik's first album. I HATED his second one outside of the single.

Funny troll thread though.

"fukk a dog, i can do it FROGGY style" always was good for laugh.

ok, i think it is. but we are entitled to our own opinions. so i'll agree to disagree :yeshrug:
If someone likes illmatic,i dont have a problem. I listen to a few songs off there regularly myself. But all that "best album" talk is nonsense. It's not nas best album, not the best album of 94' and not a great album at all. For a nikka that really remembers illmatic's impact or lack there of,it's disgusting to watch the brainwash revisionist history of it. Why,because it's nikkas out here that really put it down and nikkas out here lying as if shyt happened differently. I remember 94' like yesterday. I was 14,everybody had walk mans and would ask each other what they were bumpin. Illmatic was not in the conversation ever.Readt to die, Da brat funkadafied, southernplayalistic, the diary, creepin on ah come up,thuglife, regulate g-funk era,8ball & mjg on the outside lookin in etc etc were al hotter than illmatic out in the neighborhoods and school

Am I the only dude here who was at least 12 when Way 2 Fonkay dropped that thought that album was utter TRASH after the dopeness of Quik Is The Name? It's like he fell into cliche P Funk beat mode for a whole album after offering one of the coolest singles that year with 'Jus Lyke Compton'.
