ATL, but rasied in DMV
Old time listeners of WOL AM (The Power) in the DMV, remember the three that changed Black talk radio was Petey Greene, C Miles out of Atlanta, and Joe Madison...in that order. These three could hang up on a caller, and have them calling back the next day...lol.

It seems like Joe Madison, aka The Black Eagle, was the last with this style. I wish they would have hired, or kept more strong Black talk radio show host. This has caused me to slack off from listening to Black talk radio the way I use to. Right now, I don't see anybody on Sirius XM (Urban View) able to pick up the torch from Joe Madison. I was thinking they may bring back Warren Ballentine...but I think he already reached his peak in Black talk radio.

It looks like Joe Madison left one tough act to follow :francis:

Black People of DC on't know how lucky they were to live in the DC area in that time. I remember when the Broadcasting station was on H street you could see the Hosts broadcasting.

WOL (we offer Love) and WHUR radio and TV was powerful. I just knew way more shyt than the average Breh outside of DC. WOL in the 90's and early 2000's was a clearinghouse of information.
We had are own Independent Media catered to or concerns not this small hat controlled bullshyt that they feed you.

Kathy Hughes used to keep her foot on The Post Necks.

Before the interent completely took over it was a glorious time.

My parents loved listening to Petey Greene on the radio, and my dad used to watch his show on Channel 20 back in the day:

Even when they moved Petey to the gospel station (I don't remember the station's call letters), he still talked big shyt on the airwaves.

I see she comes on at 10:00am. I don't usually listen that early, so I only heard her a few times. But yes, I see she's definitely a fox!

Tbh, although I still have my Sirius XM subsrciption, I fell off alot from listening. I stayed more loyal to 1450 WOL, and was able to keep listening when I moved to Atlanta, and they got on the internet. Even WOL got rid of everybody, and the only person they had left was Carl Nelson. When I came into the truth, it even got harder listening to him. Then they switched him to 6:00am recently, and brought back Warren Ballentine to take his 4:00pm spot. But his style had played out, and he didn't last too long, plus I don't think he was prepared to step in for a Carl Nelson, after being gone so long, and almost going to jail. That's one of the reasons I don't think Sirius XM will bring Ballentine back to replace Joe Madison. I think Ballentine had some bad things to say about some of the people at XM, who left him hanging during his ordeal. I believe Karl Nelson is back on at 4:00pm. But like I said, I can't listen to his show anymore because there's too much truth out here, as far as who we really are. Plus he has the same ole guest...like Nelly Fuller Jr, who said White Supremacy took intelligence, which never sounded right to begin with.

Back to what you're saying, I wouldn't be surprised if they do use Lurie Favors to fill Joe Madison's spot. But who would take her slot, as well as Clay Cane's, if he filled in. My point is, they've been in need for more strong Black male talk show host for a long time now. There's a lot of Black male talent out there. But let's face it, they've been frozen out, the same way they were frozen out from WOL, where everybody started...smh. And that's why they gonna have such a hard time finding a replacement. They let all that Black male talent go to you-tube instead. It is what it is.
