My parents loved listening to Petey Greene on the radio, and my dad used to watch his show on Channel 20 back in the day:

Even when they moved Petey to the gospel station (I don't remember the station's call letters), he still talked big shyt on the airwaves.

Yes, me and my siblings use to stay up late on Sunday nights, just to watch Petey pick up the phone and say, "Talk to me", then hang up...lol.

They made a movie about Petey Greene in 2007 titled, "Talk To Me", where Don Cheadle played Petey Greene. After spending the first part of my childhood in NW, DC, that was one of the best movies I've seen, because it showed you just what was going on in DC during the 60's.

Then during the mid 70's, my oldest brother was engaged to WOL's General Manager Jim Kelsey's oldest daughter, who went to the U of MD with my brother. I know watching the man who played Jim Kelsey in that film, moved my brother. He always said Mr. Kelsey was alright. But I digress.

I loved that movie! I saw it in theaters & have it on DVD. I wish it got more play today, it would be a perfect weekend movie on Bounce TV or BET.

They better not give it to clay cane, dude only cares about LGBT issues. He rarely has heterosexual men on his channel. Always lgbt activists and women. Dude has duel allegiance’s.
That's what I meant when I said it would be a bad idea. But the way things are going these days, he may get his spot just because he's gay...smh.

When I really think about it, it seems the only one left on the station that could replace Joe Madison, is Wilmer Leon, who comes on the weekends. Although he toned down over the years, I still think Urban View sees him as too out-spoken. That's why they switched him to the weekends in the first place. Wilmer Leon knows his stuff too, plus he be taking a lot of chances. I think they suspended his show for a weekend, after he had a guess speaker from Lebanon give his viewpoints about the Israel and Palestinian war.

This is how I remember him before he, Al Sharpton, and Warren Ballentine had the stomach surgery. In fact, he had gotten bigger, which played a factor in him having the surgery. Joe said the surgery healed his high-blood pressure, diabetes, and other health problems including sleep apnea. I don't think he had prostate cancer at the time of his surgery. Although I would never have that surgery, I don't think it had anything to do with his prostate cancer...at least I hope it didn't. He did a good job keeping that weight off.

My thoughts and prayers also go out to his wife Sherry. She was on his show a lot, supporting him.

Thanks. Watching now.

I remember reading that she used to work with /for him.
Every Black person in media is paying homage and mourning him passing. I think Tavis Smiley's show is off on Friday, so I expect him to pay tribute next Monday.
I've heard so many brothers & sisters in media sharing stories about a word, some wisdom, or a helping hand that Mr. Madison gave them.
That homage was well-earned, and is well-deserved.
