Parts of that Set Adrift video look like an "artsy" Jay-Z video
That song got a crazy amount of radio play in the Bay

Still, I didn't no anybody that had the album or was a fan

They were a complete non factor.
Was there a more blatant pop hip hop song before Set Adrift? Take a well known drum break from a classic hip hop song and put a soft ass sample on top

Funny thing is, if Kanye did this in the past five years people would call it genius

But getting back to my point though, was this the first big lazy pop hip hop song? Was this the beginning of the end of raw hip hop?

Was this the Blueprint for Puff? I know the Jodeci remix might have been out around the same time, but this record was Pop. The Jodeci record wasn't.
