Parts of that Set Adrift video look like an "artsy" Jay-Z video :lolbron:

That song got a crazy amount of radio play in the Bay :ehh:
Still, I didn't no anybody that had the album or was a fan :yeshrug:
They were a complete non factor.
Was there a more blatant pop hip hop song before Set Adrift? Take a well known drum break from a classic hip hop song and put a soft ass sample on top :scust:
Funny thing is, if Kanye did this in the past five years people would call it genius :mjlol:
But getting back to my point though, was this the first big lazy pop hip hop song? Was this the beginning of the end of raw hip hop? :ohhh:
Was this the Blueprint for Puff? I know the Jodeci remix might have been out around the same time, but this record was Pop. The Jodeci record wasn't. :yeshrug:

And also note, before Lauryn, Andre, Ceelo, Mos, Drake, Missy TPain ect all rapped AND sung on records..this dude did it first..and caught nothing but hell for it....no rappers had the balls to sing their own hooks before PM Dawn...dude was way ahead of the curve.
For those clowning, he did self produce himself, he was crazy with the samples, nice with the harmonies, melodies, mixing. He wasn't useless, he actually released 5 albums.

I'd go revisit his catalog, there is more than just krs pushing him on stage, set adrift & I'd die without you. He is actually a solid songwriter.

But even if you don't care for his music, he did make people/children feel better who are in hospitals or battling a illness. I've read some powerful stories of the lives he made better.

What have *YOU* contributed to society?
