Everyone should watch that if you got HBO Max. Great documentary that goes over this idea, which is that our modern concept of race was created during the colonization period. You look at history going back thousands of years and don't see any real discussion of race. Wars were largely fought over cultural differences, mainly religion. During the Crusades the issue wasn't whites or Jews vs brown Arabs. It was Christendom vs Muslims.

They developed this concept of race to make it easier to institute slavery. Target one region, one people and convince everyone that these people are “less than (human)” therefore there is no guilt or shame or explanation needed to enslave them.

They knew they were wrong, but the spirit of profit was just too strong

So race as in biological differences between people with different phenotypes is not real— correct.

Black peoples digging ourselves out of this hole isn’t contingent on the ideologies of other people, yes we should work together as a group but this idea that we have to be racist(which is what y’all really saying in a round about way) to get ahead is ludicrous especially for former slaves

Your missing the point. Genetically their isn’t much of a difference to separate us into categories of race.

Meaning a man from Africa might be more genetically similar to a German then he is to a another man in Africa.

But in America you would call both Africans “black” based on their skin color alone. Basically making the west definition of race meaningless.

I do agree with posters here who say there are “races”, but it wouldn’t be based on skin color. Before developed science that might have been the best indicator of race but nowadays with blood type and dna rave transcends skin color.

A black man could be more genetically similar to a white man then his own black neighbor in some cases.
