why is mass appeal so ass at album rollouts

its like they want the least amount of people to listen to these albums :why:

The rollout for Slick Rick was exceptional.

Nas, when he decides he wants to, has good rollouts. He really only promoted 3 of the 6 albums and all three charted highly.

No excuse for Raekwon in my opinion. He went on a full on promotional tour for the book he dropped a few years ago so I don’t know why he wouldn’t want to promote his first album in 8 years.

Ghost's most acclaimed and beloved albums are Supreme Clientele and Ironman, both Wu produced. Everyone wants Supreme Clientele 2 cuz they want it to sound like Wu. Meth's most beloved music is grimy and Wu sounding. People love his resurgence cuz he's rhyming over Griselda grimy production. They can still make dope shyt over other production, but not consistently.

We not gonna act like The Pretty Toney Album and Fishscale weren’t beloved and acclaimed. Fishscale sold so well and was so acclaimed that Def Jam begged him to make another album ready to go that same year. Pretty Toney only had two RZA beats and Fishscale had zero.

Both good albums, but nowhere near the level of Ironman or Supreme Clientele. How many posters have said Pretty Toney or Fishscale are their fav Ghost albums? None. But, I will say Ghost is the most versatile Wu member when it comes to making other production work because he has so much charisma and soul. Masta Killa is often toted as having the best later Wu albums cuz he stuck to dark production. GZA's second best album was with Muggs, who makes grimy beats.

Ask the Wu fans on this forum if they want Rae over Swizz Beatz or Alchemist? :mjlol:

Wu-Tang is on tour right now so he probably can't get around. Still hoping Mass Appeal has something creative up their sleeves.

Fischscale was definitely viewed as a top tier Ghost album when it came out and is viewed as a classic. One of the last truly great albums that Def Jam released. Pretty Toney is cool but not considered great, sure.

I don't think he ever gave a definitive answer outside of "creative differences".

Regardless, the album was recorded in 1998, RZA was still very much RZA during that time frame. I don't see any possibility where the version we got is superior to one helmed, even partially, by RZA. At the very least he could've exec produced/curated it like "Supreme Clientele", which is obviously light years ahead of "Immobilarity".

so explain RZAs role in Supreme Clientele. it says PRODUCED by Rza then gives credit to the other producers for the individual tracks. when the album was turned in. did RZA rework the beats? what did the album sound like BEFORE he got his hands on it?

If I remember correctly, he handled stuff like sequencing, picking beats, etc. And obviously did 5-6 tracks himself.

I assume it just means RZA exec produced, so he made some beats and helped craft the direction of the album. The beats that were chosen from other producers fit the direction RZA/Ghost wanted.

RZA also did all the skits on the album which tied the various beats/songs together.

I think he did rework a few of the beats and helped with the final sequencing and mastering

RZA and Ghost went through the beats together and selected them for the album, including all the ones from the other producers and a chunk of them RZA had set aside ready for Ghost when he came back after his gun charge bid to finish up the album.

RZA also did the final run through and sequencing of the album, much of which you can hear in the difference between the Canadian version and the final American version where the sequence is completely different including songs added/removed, music is added to skits, a second Ghost verse is added to Wu Banga and a beat switch is added to Child's Play for some examples.
