Theres the answer really. All those ug acts can get away with stuff they cant.Agree. Rae one of the few notable 90s artists that managed to tastefully update their old sound while keeping the essence intact with Cuban Linx II. Everything he did in between and since been a mixed bag with way too much cheap production. But I don't really want to hear him over Griselda type production. 4th, True Master and Alchemist would be great if he got a decent budget to clear samples.
If he getting GOOD beats from Nottz and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, I'm here for that, their styles work for him. Swizz we just got to hope it's one beat, and one of his decent onesRae would be good over the couple beats Swizz had on LT2.
Tho i really dont like rae and ghosts need to stay working with popular” sounds versus their own, it keeps them relevent and their og sound stuff special.
Ghosts sound is so sample focus. They money focused. Hip hop just aint tye same without the samples. There isnt a lot to go around “ghost cheap” - rza to ykim
Not really into the new live sounds with bands and the like of recent years but thats just what it is. Songs just dont get the same care they used to. Especially from them.
Wus stuff has been tiered for some time.
Theres like… mixtape promo tier
Collabo tier
“Solo” tier
Amd special projects
Ie. Cuban 2 and supreme are their real artistic output imo. Deeper than business. Albums they handcraft over a decade. Ghost said supreme 2 has stuff from 2003 on it. This is where the big collabs happen and the wu songs.
The solos ghost dropped after defjam are not real ghost albums.they were created for him. He was paid to make them. Iykyk.
Then theirs these solos like thr wild and set the tone. They get checks for records and make them happen. Whatever they come out like they come out. Industry style.
This imo will he like fila/ the wild /blood on chef apron… a warm up album aka old mixtape
