The nostalgia people have for the 80s is crazy. There was only about 4-5 nikkas from that entire decade not spitting cat in the hat nursery rhymes

De La, NWA, G Rap, Slick Rick, PE, BDK, Rakim, LL, EPMD, 3rd Bass, Gang Starr, Geto Boys, etc. all started in the 80's.
If you said the first half of the decade you might have a point....but nobody really praises those rappers for their skills so I'm not sure what you mean.

Right. And the entire decade 90% of the rappers you said had bars dropped their first release in 1989. I'm with you 100% on this shyt. Seeing that Anthony fantano video where he claimed the 80s was the golden age of hip hop made me smh. The only shyt to like from the 80s was at the very end of the decade, and even then there was a lot more garbage out than respectable material

Rappers nowadays have turned their voices into instruments and fit their flows into grooves of the beat to enhance the beat. 80s nikkas mostly was just talking to a beat really. Cuz they really didn't know what they were doing and had no real understanding of melodies back then the way they do now. Not to take anything away from the pioneers but just like athletics, rap has evolved and gotten better. Rakim talking shyt to the youngins is like if Bill Russell decided to let off on KD when this nikka was dunking on mostly cacs that wouldn't make a d1 team in 2018. Old heads need to stop being c00ns going after kids making the music and start going after the Jews who pick which artist to make hot and what sound will set the trends in that moment and take the culture back
