How the hell does the guy conclude that when the stats clearly show that LeBron is the worst out of the 4 in all the categories that have the least to do with team work/team decisions and that are the hardest to stat pad? LeBron forces the least turnovers and has the least combined steals/blocks per 100. If anything, those limited data points suggest that LeBron's individual defense isn't stellar but that he benefits from the defense of his teammates. Also, it suggests that the supposed lack of Harden's defense is severely overstated and based on previous seasons more than on this one.
Lastly, it shows that Kawhi individually and the Spurs collectively are defensive beasts.
:dwillhuh:

What in the hell are you looking at and talking about?

It's about more than on/off his points per possession allowed despite being on a weak defensive team.
That's half the reason why there's such a contrast between his on/off numbers, because the Cavs are that weak defensively (they're a poor defensive unit even when he's on court). Even Love has a better on/off court defensive rating than LeBron.
and defensive FG% is elite and he's in the 81st percentile of defenders.
The problem with that is it's only on shots defended (no other strand of defense), where teams are more likely to test the weaker defenders on the Cavs rather than him (Thompson*, Love, Frye, Korver and Shumpert all defend more shots per minute than LeBron - with Kyrie close behind). He's been extremely inconsistent with rotations and stopping players from driving this season, which largely can be put down to leading the league in minutes (behind Lowry). You can't expect him to be a dominant force defensively, all things considered.
People been sleeping on LeBron defensively been a couple years without an All-D selection now.
Sleeping on LeBron's defense, this season? I think LeBron's the one who's been doing the sleeping on defense. He's certainly had a few purple patches, but his defense hasn't been consistent by any reasonable measure this season.

There's nothing "LeGoat" about that breh, at all.

And to be fair to Kawhi, the Spurs have two defensive linchpins in Dedmon and Green, and arguably the strongest defensive second unit in the league. Despite not having the impact of a paint anchor, you're not going to see Kawhi's defensive impact though on/off numbers in that context, especially given the Spurs system and the fact he's upped his defensive activity over the last couple of months. Even with his slow defensve start to the season, he's still been considerably better than LeBron on that end of the floor this season.

Trading PJ Tucker, benching Tyson Chandler, and now this.
Suns management ain't playing around with these other tanking teams :wow:

I swear some cats in here were having canipition fits when the 76ers were tanking but it seems like damn near the whole lottery is tanking now and no one says anything.

They can't. Teams can do it whatever they please in that regard. I think the NBAPA would have to step in and say something about lack of play time affecting potential contracts but that may be too flimsy of an argument to stand on.

On and off is not a good indicator and I wasn't talking about on/off. Saying "even Love" has a better defensive on/off is misleading, he's literally the only Cav with a better defensive on/off than LeBron.

Saying his dFG% and PPA which is in the 81st percentile is so good only because teams attack the Cavs weaker defenders more isn't even a good point.

I don't think LeBron is on Kawhi's level and I see the inconsistencies due to the burden but he's one of the better defenders when locked in.
