A lot of media guys like Zach Lowe are referencing the 2001 Lakers as precedent for a team who struggled defensively and flipped the light switch during the playoffs. Even as a Laker fan my basketball eyes were far too young at the time to notice what exactly clicked defensively for them.......and if that's even a reasonable comparison to the defensive struggles the Cavs are going through now.
Probably not the most suitable reference.

Lakers had a # of defensive role players with experience and versatility (Fox, Grant and Horry), Shaq upped his defensive activity as the team's anchor, Shaq/Kobe put their regular season drama to the side, and the most overlooked thing was the return of Derek Fisher from injury (who only played 20 games at the end of the season - prior to his return they were ranked 22nd on defense across 62 games, and 13th over the last month). The Lakers defense was starting to click near the end of the season, peaking in the playoffs; whereas the Cavs' is getting worse (29th since the All-Star break). They could flip the switch because they had the pieces, the same be said for Cleveland.

I'll just say anyone who thinks KP is a center in the making needs to give up that dream. If he winds up a center, it'll be after he's 30 years old. Leave him at the 4.
He is the prototypical stretch 5 in every sense.

They problem with kp is not only does he not have the freedom to create and expand his game, the Knicks are.running a shytty offense that doesn't maximize his strengths. Going full tringle next year is a fukking disaster

random ass thought, but Nets will retire Brook Lopez's number when it's all said & done. He only needs like 200 points to become their all time leading scorer.

edit. and since he has 1 year left of his contract, he'll have the most games after next season too (if healthy)
