Ja doesn’t fix their issues on the court. If he doesn’t defend or shoot (especially defend), then Finch won’t wanna play him.

Short term they’re not making any moves. Come summer time, they’ll check up on Kyrie.

So Ja is the new old-man Russ minus the pedigree, hardware, or professionalism that emboldened teams to overlook the obvious on-court flaws?

Nah. DeAaron Fox screwed them. It didn't make sense to move on from Sabonis until Fox forced his trade.
He showed who he really was during that GS series in '23.

It put his flaws under the microscope: soft, completely incapable of enforcing his will on a game, loses his head far too easily and doesn't know what to do once his primary scoring avenues are taken away from him. You don't win with players like that as part of your core. The team has adopted his mentality since, and it's one of the main reasons why they've gone nowhere.

No, the Kings screwed Fox. They fired Brown and let him take the fall for it. NOBODY in their front office or ownership spoke to the media about the firing. That was unforgivable.

Yall think Ja peaked/ his lack of a consistent jumper was the death of him or he’ll ball out if he gets traded?

I just think the game is the game. Iverson, Rose, Ja… not gonna win a title if the #1 option/most reliable scorer is a frail undersized pg with no outside jumper.

You can mask it a bit by playing in a shytty conference, and injuries are scapegoats that make for urban legends… but ultimately the league is dominated by bigs and oversized guards.

I think that he’s incredibly disengaged from the Grizzlies and might be rejuvenated with a trade but it’s clear the injuries have taken a bit from him - he’s not the same guy from 2/3 years ago
