Luka tonight

22pts 15ast 9reb

8 for 24 shooting, 4 for 9 from free throws, and LAL had 24 assists total for the game. Rough game but also a rough system.

Ironically somehow someway Lakers and Rockets are 9th and 10th in offensive efficiency :mjlol:

Some people might hate this, but Nico was right in his thinking of wanting to trade Luka. He saw the complaining way too much getting out of hand, especially after they made it to the NBA Finals. There was no way to reign him back in.

Where Nico went wrong was the return on the trade. Top 4 player in the league and you should get back the farm for him. How Nico (and moreso, the NBA) allowed that lopsided trade to go down is some bullshyt. But I dont see Luka getting a ring in his career. With the Spurs and Thunder and Nuggets in the West, he might not see the Finals again either.

yup you'll never win with luka, he gives zero effort even though he's in "shape"

This isn't baseball where you can hide a guy as a DH when he's horrible on defense, the nba is one of the few sports you gotta play both ways at least try

I thought at the time the prospective Mavs team would’ve been competitive but you don’t give up on a peaking asset immediately in terms of Luka. With that said the ref working & 4 on 5s are REALLY a detriment

Yeah, I see what Nico was viewing in theory. A Big 3 of AD, Kyrie and Cooper Flagg would do some damage. The problem is, all 3 of them are damaged and would have never been on the court enough together to make it worth it. And yes, I know the trade was done without knowledge of Dallas getting the #1 pick. So really, its 2 oft-injured stars in Kyrie and AD. That would have been a non starter to begin with.

Im sure it was alot of back and forth between Luka and the front office, and they wanted him gone. Nico was the scapegoat

All this can't win with Luka talk is hilarious like he didn't just have his squad in the finals two years ago. Such prisoners of the moment.

For sure.

Does Luka have real flaws that have to be considered when building a team? Yes.

Is it his fault the Lakers ain’t shyt? Not really. Their roster construction is horrible and has been for years.

If your big offseason acquisitions are Marcus Smart & DeAndre Ayton then anyone with a brain can see you’re unserious about competing.
