McCain feels almost underutilized. Like, if you had to rank their best backup guards, would it not be

1. Mitchell
2. Wallace
3. McCain

4. Caruso
5. Wiggins
6. Joe

You take the first three in bold and JWill as the backup big... that group + their starters is a 9-man playoff rotation. Their guard play could end up infinitely better than what it was last year. i.e. That bullshyt Caruso threw up at the end of regulation, Mitchell, McCain, or JDubb are finishing that easily.
i can't put Joe last on that list

I had to check Caruso's numbers to see if his offense had fallen off a cliff. It's not good, but it's not bad enough to discount his defense. Guarantee he gets more playoff burn than McCain whose defense is suspect.

I've seen and heard too much revisionist history about the MPJ/Cam trade recently. Yes, Cam has been ass this season but MPJ was ass for most of their playoff runs besides that first round series against LA in 2024 where he was unconscious.

People are getting way too wrapped up in MPJ putting up stats on a tanking team that isn't playing for anything. Dude is on a max contract that handcuffed Denver's ability to build out their roster. The money matters with the hard cap and Cam making almost half allowed the Nuggets to get Val, Bruce Brown and THJ, plus pay Braun (not a great contract) and gives them a chance to re-up Watson.

Yea, and the way ppl talk about "MPJ was injured" last year... as if that nygga ain't been trash more often than not in the playoffs :mjlol:

Last year
  • Round 2 vs OKC: 7.4ppg
  • Round 1 vs LAC: 10.9ppg

2024
  • Round 2 vs MIN: 10.7ppg
  • Round 1 vs LAL: 22.8ppg

2023
  • Finals vs MIA: 9.6ppg
  • Round 3 vs LAL: 15ppg
  • Round 2 vs PHO: 12.8ppg
  • Round 1 vs MIN: 16.4ppg

Now I give him credit in that outside of a system, in BK, he's much better than Jordan Poole is outside of a system, for what that's worth.

I also feel that the wing position for DEN is an albatross for a high end wing player, simply due to how their offense is designed. The role is to be Bruce Bowen... play defense and sit in the corner. It's not a role you're going to look impressive in unless you're on fire with the catch n shoot 3s.

He'll get slightly more burn than McCain to start for sure, but i can also see him getting pulled quick if he has one of those xmas game performances vs SAS. Caruso is lowkey a giveth n taketh away player that to his credit ends up a net-positive with his good to fukk-up ratio.

Still, McCain is a bucket, whereas Caruso is mr intangibles for them. AJ Mitchell does both, and Cason Wallace seems to be evolving into more than just a glorified Lindsey Hunter.
