Uh, most of it is, hard to find a song of her's you instantly won't feel the need to dance to out of nowhere. R&B is automatically danceable, so I don't want to hear that bullshyt like that means anything.

Missy has a lot of songs that are danceable, but the majority of her albums aren't. R&B music isn't automatically danceable. :what:where does that even come from?

That element of Hip Hop is always called out on here. It's done to the point where if an artist makes a danceable record, it's frowned upon. I've seen posters on forums straight up say an album can't be classic if it contains club songs. What's funny is that people only use the club/dance element when it's convenient to :pacspit: on other artists who don't make those type of songs.

I understand that because making club records is problematic. 95% of the time it's chasing the fad of the time and fads always get played out. which means the song will be played out.

Meanwhile, if you just make music without trying to chase the clubs, then it lasts longer. With that said, hip hop is about dancing/groove. so if your beats don't inspire some sort of groove, you've lost. Illmatic is a perfect example. Every single second on Illmatic is a banger. All of it has a strong groove. It's not "look we up in the club with bottles", but it's just good ass music to listen/sway to.

Missy is actually brilliant because she's one of the very few hip hop artists that made outright club records that still kill to this day. and she did this shyt multiple times over a 10 year span.

Uh, most of it is, hard to find a song of her's you instantly won't feel the need to dance to out of nowhere. R&B is automatically danceable, so I don't want to hear that bullshyt like that means anything.

:what:

I can't stand hearing Lil' Jon for a whole project, so what did Missy honestly do much differently other than her delivery and beat selection?

cmon breh. Even you don't believe this. Missy is FAR more eclectic and experimental than Lil Jon.

Wake me up when Lil Jon throws Bjork samples in his music outta nowhere over a ridiculous beat while rocking some shyt from the middle ages.

Like I said before, I have no problem when it's a few hit songs, but an entire discography is a waste to me. Show actual potential as an artist and do something different, fukk is that TOO MUCH to ask for these days?

It's why Rap is oversaturated these days, but everyone else finds problems with other Mainstream Rap artists as if they do that for whole projects.

I can't stand hearing Lil' Jon for a whole project, so what did Missy honestly do much differently other than her delivery and beat selection?

Lil' Jon screamed/chanted over beats for the most part. A lot of it was hooks/choruses. Sometimes he would drop little verses on songs, but that was mostly what the Eastside Boys did. Missy sang and rap for the most part.

So it's Missy fault that people tried to copy her genius? :dwillhuh:

The genre started out with people dancing. Why would this ever be questioned? :dwillhuh:

Rapsody and who?! Either way, both prolly trash. Rapsody is definitely :trash:

This convo is so weird. Missy practically redesigned her whole sound with every single album :what: Few rappers ever do this.

1. Making Dance Rap songs with innovative beat selection, yeah real rocket science

:camby:

Her producers redesigned her sound with every album, yet she couldn't change things up as a rapper once? Thank the producers then.

2. I'm not questioning it dumbass, I'm asking how is it that nikkas complain that Rap is getting worse in this decade, but you're gonna ignore what lead to it being the way it is decades prior?
All these one-hit wonder morons with Dance Rap songs now, when only about 7-8 years ago, you had all kinds of Rap artists that were Mainstream.

3. Wow, open-minded says alot about who are you, gonna try and not laugh at that.:sas2:

4. If it's not Missy's pre-Young Thug ass, then it's trash now I truly heard it all :mjlol:

Wow, just like her stans, unbelievable......one dimensional, no variety, absolutely predictable, cannot accept creativity in rapping, so they just go for when it's mostly in the production.
And we wonder why Rap continues to not last long in the Mainstream, as far as careers go.

Missy is an architect in the Timbaland sound. Let's not play dumb here. She has producer credits on a lot of her albums.

Change things up as a rapper in what way? Please be specific, breh

Such a big difference, almost earthquake Richter scale level. A lot of Southern Rap artists "sang and rap", it's the South, not a talent contest.

You mentioned Lil' Jon not a lot of Southern rappers. Outsidebof Missy, Cee Lo and Andre 3000 are l about the only other Southern rappers who rapped and sang without heavily relying on voice altering technology.

Why do you enter a Missy thread given you've never liked her anyway?
Was traumatized as a youngster by hearing that trash on the radio all day and seeing those goofy ass videos all day. Most of you probably aren't old enough to remember what hip hop was like before Missy. :yeshrug:

Loved Hip Hop before Missy. When Missy debuted, it didn't detract from what I liked before or what Hip Hop was like before. In fact, Missy was a throwback to an era in Hip Hop where artists actually had fun with it.
