That entire last decade lowered so many standards since Lauryn left on indefinite hiatus for a 2nd album (her stans still think is gonna be dropped, been 20 years now)

nikka she was basically Young Thug on hot beats, before that enigma got known. Now you have all these females making Dance Rap songs and shyt, and albums only full of club bangers, smfh.
00's worst decade ever for females, 90's close second. She did have some great songs though, production and features comprised the replay value more than herself. Never heard a chick get outrapped so much every project, god damn she barely trying either.
The fact I remember more Timbaland and Neptune beats more than her rapping says something, I barely remember the hooks as song parts.
How was standards lowered? Not everybody makes music aspiring to be a great lyricist. Missy came from an era where many female rappers were hiring writers to pass off the idea that they were lyricists. Missy owned her own lane. That's the difference between Missy and this generation of rappers. You'd hardly find anyone trying to argue that Missy Elliott was some great lyricist. People will legit claim Young Thug is actually some Jay/Nas level lyricist and justify it by saying he goes over people's heads.

That's the problem, this about not having ghostwriters, but when that was the equivalent of "GOAT talent", how do you excuse laziness and relying on hot beats as much as she did?
The ones that have them are still ass, it's more embarrassing (You said lyricists, but also they weren't good at technical rhyming either), when you need one for nearly your whole career.
That's why Eve's last album was total crap, Missy began that trend of females having to do Dance songs to stay relevant, look where that got us now.....

Female rappers were not forced to make dance songs to stay relevant. Kim, Foxy, Mia X, Brat, Remy, etc. weren't making dance songs. They either retired or fell off.
