I heard the name Ransom but never checked for him. After those 2 videos popped up in my YT .... Im liking him...

What past stuff should I check for

Pain & Glory (the album from 14' & not the street LP from 08' even tho that got some bangers as well) is still prob my favorite from him. I can't get with a lot of his Wes Craven stuff but I will take some songs and here and add em to a playlist.

Preem will always be the GOAT in my eyes

The structure of simple creative loop, snappy boombap drums and a scratched hook - with an MC talking their best shyt - is a timeless formula

My issue is that, those elements aren't coming together anymore:
- sample sources: there is a finite supply here, but hearing him flip samples that we've heard before is... Very disappointing
- drums: like Dre around the Detox period, Premier is gravitating towards live drums that seem overly "loud" and dominate the mix... The songs end up sounding too clean and polished, which contradicts his style
- scratches: I heard him scratch Drake for a hook (I think it was for the Run the Jewels song) on his recent EP - that broke my heart

Basically if he's making new stuff for this Nas project, I don't have confidence. If he's willing to dig up old material, that's what we really want to hear
