Assumption correct .

But do you really believe that you can decipher any song by a listen? As in you have the vast amount of knowledge to know exactly is being referenced, point of view of the song writer, experiences he/she has felt and why , etc.....

You mastered dictionary's, thesaurus , history books, religious books, movies, every rappers personal life, etc....

You the man ...

GTFOH !

Your a Coli supporter stay in ya lane.
Not off listening to a song once or twice... But I'm from the era of listening to a single Common Sense song over 100 times and wearing out the rewind button..When I was 12 me and my best friend locked ourself in his dads office one winter and literally typed out every lyric to Das Efx's first album on a old computer with a floppy disc.. I'm a head..The lyrics is what I dive into first..I love to disect shyt like a puzzle and put it back together..

Going to Rap Genius is not only unecessary but would take all the fun out of my being a fan...
That doesn't make me a super hero. It makes me a hip hop head with natural curiosity...

Breh I just know people that know people and was constantly being put onto game... The things not spelled out for me were discovered through
deductive reasoning... I also read a lot...

Well that's good for you....but when I was 12-13 years old, I was listening to rap, country, r&B, rock...and I just wasn't "in the know" like you. When Biggie, Method Man or Nas was talking about stuff I had no clue of much of what they were referring to. I liked the flow, and the beat like many ppl did. I'd never been to NYC or the east coast to know everything they were rapping about.......but there's a reason why southern rap blew up everywhere like it did. Why do you suppose that is? :leostare:

Maybe b/c it's easily accessible to the listener and the content is less region specific.

but you said you stopped fukking with rap like it had gotten to the point where you couldn't understand nothing anymore lol,and rapgenius made you a fan again :dahell:

I said, no such damn thing.

I said I stopped listening to it in general....I didnt say why. Mainly it was boring to me for a while. But the newer lyrical rappers like Wale, etc., reading their lyrics, structure, rhyme schemes and some of the back stories made appreciate rap again.

@ jadillac the South has taken over because club culture has become Black culture... The stuff being played at 2 in the morning when your 8 Ciroq shots deep isn't condusive to ANY thought at all.. Its all about rhythm and chants that can be easily followed and lend to group participation..

I'm not against it, I just realize its more attractive to casual fans...

A few points:

1) For anybody talking about Youtube... :stopitslime::stopitslime::stopitslime::stopitslime::stopitslime:..... Yoututbe / Google (owners of youtube) / Vevo are all in Bed together.... Look it up.... Youtube will be here 100 years from now... They are owned by Google and have an internet monopoly... it's a WRAP...

Youtube helps Record labels make money (Vevo is owned by 3 of the 4 major record labels like Universal / Warner etc).... So, enough of that stupid talk...

2) Rap Genius / Any other Lyrics site can stay alive.... Just find a creative way to break the record labels off a piece of the pie:lolbron::lolbron:.... Cus thats ALL they give a fukk about....

Right now rap genius has 2 choices: 1) Go out of business and make $0 dollars... or 2) Give the record Labels 50 / 50 from whatever source of revenue they have..... problem solved:takedat:

It's that simple.... Record labels do not make money off of lyrics (a booklet inside a CD case, for the 5% that EVEN HAVE THAT).... lyrics inside a CD case is valueless....

The major labels are putting the squeeze on.... IF Rap Genius can come up with a creative way to get in bed with the record labels and break them off, they'll live. Simple as that

and how is that more illegal than having message boards and wikipidia?

if rapgenius go down then it would be for retarded reasons.
Lyrics are intellectual property of the labels who own the music. How is this retarded.

So here's what the Rap Genius guys, Sony Chairman, Martin Bandier & investor, Nasir Jones have to say about Sony/Rap Genius deal. http://t.co/M384MyIYtg

The difference between people who prematurely rejoice in the "going under" or "shut down" of a successful investment based on false gossip & those that know the TRUTH are that one deals with facts and the other deals with gossip fueled by haters.

By the way:
1. Nas was NEVER an investor in Esco Clothing (Nas wanted to invest because he believed in a vision for the clothing line, the founders of the line didn't, Nas stopped promoting the line & it flopped).
2. Ill Will Records has been one of the imprint that Nas has used on all of his 8 platinum/multiplatinum albums & gold albums (he will continue to recieve hefty payments on this imprint FOREVER).
3. Rap Genius founders/investors are way smarter than the average commenter on blog sites. So therefore Rap Genuis' 3 founders (Mahbod Moghadam, Tom Lehman & Ilan Zechory) and their major investors ( Ben Horowitz, Marc Andreessen & Nasir Jones) are in ABSOLUTELY NO DANGER OF BEING SHUT DOWN.

There are haters who chose to focus on anything "NEGATIVE" that they deem is a loss for Nas but while they allow themselves to live in a state of delusion by believing "another one of Nas' investments is going under" or claiming to be so use to Nas losing that they haven't even noticed this one. " Nas continues to evolve and succeed in his life/career.

Here is a quote from the GOAT!
"I want to have fun. It's a beautiful life. You learn, you win, you lose, but you get up" - Nas.

This is what a true WINNER understands.

the fukked up and annoying thing about these lyrics sites other than rap genius is that only one site does the actual work of writing the lyrics, the rest just copy..
If you find a mistake on one site, every other site has the same mistake. I wonder which site it is:lupe:

Some of the mistakes are so obvious too. Like how did you hear that?:leostare:

lyrics
it's considered a form of bootlegging and distribution

usually you have the buy the CD for lyrics, but here they are giving lyrics away for free
and putting their own interpretation to it as well.

Time r changing, youtube will NOT be youtube in a few years
Rap Genuis has the support of the industry.
