Anybody know the rule behind this, if any at all? I find this to be one of the most obnoxious, offensive things when I'm running through radio stations in the car. What if a rap verse on a song is a prime reason why the song is a huge hit in the first place?

Quick examples that immediately come to mind:

-Katy Perry feat Snoop - California Girls
-Maroon5 feat Wiz - forget the name
-Katy Perry feat Juicy J (HUGE example where rap verse is so key)
-most recently, new Maroon5 hit feat J. Cole

This shouldn't be allowed, and I wonder if it's been an issue over the years.

i don't know but "Suit and Tie" by Justin Timberlake is 1000 times more enjoyable without jay-z's awful feature on it.

its funny the top 40 stations take out.
...

Jay Z's verse on suit and tie
Jay Z on Empire State Of Mind They Play Alicia Keys Version
They also play the justin tumberlake only version of holy grail

great example with the Alicia keys only version of Empire State...crazy disrespectful, really.

:scusthov: @ Timberlake only version of holy grail. He is painful to listen to on that track. I literally cringe when I hear him on it - "and I stiiiiiiill don't know why." :scust:

OP. that Katy Perry song is 10000X better WITHOUT Juicy J verse btw
:leostare: I wanna neg you so bad right now

That's Juicy J verse was so awful. Little mamma was so dope I messed around and got addicted.... If that's a dope line out of a dope verse to you we obviously have to agree to disagree.

Its NOT radio stations fault

Its the LABELS

When record labels service radio stations with collabo type records...many times the have the option of playing the ALTERNATIVE VERSION minus the guest featured rap

Adult R&B stations been doing this for years before the Pop stations even started this practice

Ive worked at a URBAN STATION where they would play MARY J BLIGE "I CAN LOVE YOU" ft LIL KIM during the day...but when it was the GROWN AND SEXY EVENING SHOW featuring slow jam and ballads they would play the version MINUS lil kim

Its BUSINESS nothing PERSONAL :manny:

At the end of the day its demographics
